  • PGWP applications must be filed within 180 days of your final exam results; processing takes 4-8 weeks.
  • Post-PGWP, you may apply for permanent residence through Canada Express Entry (Skilled Worker category) using a valid job offer and your work history in Canada.
  • PR approval typically takes 6-12 months; family members can join you on dependent visas during work permit tenure.
Visa Reality: A PGWP is not a permanent residency guarantee, but graduates with 2+ years of Canadian experience and a valid job offer have high PR approval rates (70%+) under Express Entry.

FAQs

Ques. What is the difference between Humber’s Business Insights and Analytics and a Data Science Masters program?

Ans. The Business Insights and Analytics graduate certificate is a 2-year applied program focused on practical skills in SQL, Python, Tableau, and machine learning. It does not require a GRE and is more accessible for working professionals. A traditional Data Science Masters typically demands 2-3 years, higher tuition, and strong mathematical background. Choose the certificate if you want faster entry to industry; choose a Masters if you aim for research-focused roles or academic credentials.

Ques. Can I work part-time during my studies in Canada?

Ans. Yes. International students on study permits may work up to 20 hours per week during semesters and full-time (40 hours) during official breaks (summer, winter). Many Humber students earn CAD 4,000-5,000 monthly during summer co-op terms, offsetting living costs significantly. Part-time work in retail, data entry, or tutoring is common among first-semester students.

Ques. Is the PGWP guaranteed after graduation?

Ans. The PGWP is not automatically granted; you must apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) within 180 days of completing your studies. Eligibility requires: (1) graduation from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI—Humber is approved), (2) a program of at least 8 months duration (this program is 24 months), and (3) less than 50% online delivery (Humber’s program is primarily on-campus). Meeting these criteria ensures PGWP eligibility; processing averages 4-8 weeks.

Ques. What is the acceptance rate for Indian students applying to Humber’s Business Insights and Analytics program?

Ans. Humber does not publish program-specific acceptance rates. However, Humber’s overall acceptance rate for international graduate certificates exceeds 75%. Indian applicants with a 2.5+ GPA (60% aggregate), IELTS 6.5+, and a completed bachelor’s degree are highly competitive. Acceptance decisions are merit-based; no quota system limits Indian admissions.

Ques. How much can I expect to earn after graduation, and is the return on investment worth it for an Indian student?

Ans. New graduates earn CAD 79,595 gross (INR 54 Lakhs) on average; mid-career professionals (3-5 years experience) earn CAD 95,000-115,000 (INR 65-78 Lakhs). The 2-year program costs INR 65-79 Lakhs all-inclusive (tuition + living). Your salary covers all costs within 24-30 months; subsequent earnings are pure return. Compared to similar programs in India or the UK, Canada offers competitive post-graduation work authorization and clear residency pathways, amplifying your return over a 5-10 year horizon.

To apply, I submitted a CV, Statement of Purpose (SoP), provisional degree of graduation, 12th degree, marksheets, no backlog certificate, and character certificate. Some courses also required an audition video. My CV highlighted relevant experiences and Extra curricular, while my SoP articulated my academic and career goals. Also, submitted LORS as additional thing but was not required. It is top ranked and reputed among colleges in Canada and was located in Toronto. My program is the one want to base my career on. I am trying to get into Data Analytics or data science, with the skills my course, Business Insights and Analytics, taught me. My experience at Humber College, particularly in the Business Analytics program, was mixed. The campus, Lakeshore, offered scenic views as it is located beside the lake. Despite a vibrant campus life with frequent events, the lack of placements was disappointing. The program's practical focus was valuable, but the syllabus felt brief and included unnecessary subjects. Additionally, the high fees compared to other colleges made it less worthwhile. It is 22000CAD and is not worth the cost.
