Course Curriculum

10

  • The course curriculum is industry aligned, which also makes it difficult for individuals who do not have a tech-related graduation. Additionally, the course curriculum is more practically focused, implementing learning as you perform methodology.
  • The schedule might make it overwhelming for the new students who are traditionally acclimatised to Indian Education.
  • On average 2 classes are scheduled every day. On average 15 students are seen.
  • All the students enrolled are Indian.

Admission Experience

  • Applied and Shortlisted in one university which is located in Gujarat GIFT City called Deakin University
  • Deakin University sent a confirmed Admission
  • No, there were no such colleges that had rejected me
  • The chances of not getting selected at Deakin University are decent at best. The college requires you to have a strong portfolio and a strong GRE/CAT test scores
  • It is an international branch campus, which provides us the same level of education in comparison to their native counterpart.
  • For applying to the Deakin University GIFT campus, there's a separate website listed on the Deakin University's official webpage. From there you can enquire about the admission process.
  • For Masters of Business Analytics, a strong portfolio is required and a high GRE score of roughly 300-310 is required. For Masters of Cybersecurity, a strong portfolio and, preferably, a graduation in a technology-related degree are expected. No entrance exam is required for masters of CyberSecurity. Both the degrees require an interview to be cleared for finalising the admission.
  • No challenges were faced in the application process. Everything is seamless and smooth.
  • I applied for the Summer Intake, the college follows the regular Indian intake schedule. Being an international branch campus, the overall fee is low compared to overseas universities.
  • The admission process can take anywhere between a month to two months depending on the document requirements.
  • Generally, early applications start in March and continue till June, and the college starts in the first week of July.

Faculty

10

  • 1 faculty to 15 students makes it possible for students to easily resolve their doubts.
  • Yes, the teachings imparted from the faculty are more than sufficient to land a job in the market.
  • Yes, the faculty members use their vast connections to provide referrals.
  • All of the faculty members in the college are most dear to me. They always back us up in case of doubts related to personal and professional developments.

Campus Life

8

  • We have the following campuses:
    • Melbourne Burwood Campus, Burwood, Victoria, Australia
    • Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus, Geelong, Victoria, Australia
    • Geelong Waterfront Campus, Geelong, Victoria, Australia
    • Warrnambool Campus, Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia
  • GIFT City Campus, Gujarat International Finance Tec-City, India
  • A gym is available in the university and along with that, a recreational room for yoga and other activities.
  • The university conducts a hackathon every year which might expose students to different cultures and provide them a head start in getting an admission to the college.

Part Time Jobs

  • The number of students securing Teaching Assistant (TA), Research Assistant (RA), or Departmental Assistant (DA) positions is not applicable, as these roles are not typically offered to students by the university.
  • Pay ranges for TA/RA/DA positions are not applicable due to the absence of such formal positions for students.
  • Other on-campus job opportunities specifically provided by the university are not applicable; however, students often seek casual or part-time jobs off-campus or through external job portals.
  • The usual hourly wages for on-campus jobs are not applicable because formal on-campus jobs are not commonly provided.
  • Most Indian students in Australia prefer working part-time in sectors such as retail sales in supermarkets and department stores, hospitality jobs in cafes and restaurants, customer care centres, tutoring, and cashier roles.
  • The typical hourly earnings for these part-time jobs generally range from AUD 20 to AUD 40 depending on the job type. Securing part-time employment while studying is moderately challenging but feasible for most students, with demand high in hospitality and retail sectors.

Placement

2

  • From what I’ve seen, they’re not really focusing on attracting high-tier companies just yet, which is affecting the overall placement scenario for students in a big way. Out of a batch of about 50 students, only 10 have been placed so far.
  • The university is aiming for an average salary of 7-8 LPA in indian rupees which is considerably low after the promises the university makes during the admission process.
  • Students are finding it extremely difficult with the college placement process, since the university has not maintained transparency with the companies they are targeting.

Accommodation

Off Campus
6

  • The accommodation is not provided by the college, although they have a tie-up with the external hostel service.
  • Monthly rent could be anywhere around 20,000 to 25,000 indian rupees.
  • The college would not disclose the contact information of other students, essentially making it difficult to communicate with the students to acquire the accommodation of their choice with the partner.
  • I lived in Geeta Residency 4 at Raysan. They provide most amenities and have a decent food taste for north Indians.
  • The campus is roughly 5 kilometres away from the hostel and will require a mode of transport.

Exams

  • The college offers two master's degrees. Masters of CyberSecurity does not require any examination clearance, while Masters of Business Analytics requires CAT/GRE/GMAT any one of them. May require an English Proficiency Examination if their graduation is not done through a college which has English as their first language.
  • The students applying to this, if they are Indian citizens who have completed their graduation in Indian universities, need to showcase a document stating their college was conducted with English as their first language. Other than that, students also need to provide their graduation certificate and passport copy.
  • Interview is conducted to screen whether the applicant fits the college's values.

Fees

  • The fee is 9500 AUD (australian dollar) per trimester, which is transferred using a service called flywire. This fees only includes the tuition fees
  • This fee is charged on a trimester basis, meaning every trimester, which lasts for four months, the fee is charged for every subject an individual takes within that trimester.
  • The hostel is not provided by Deakin University but they have a tie-up with an external hostel which provides two-person shared rooms for roughly 20K indian rupees. This includes electricity, cleaning, food mess, and tiffin service. The transportation may charge another 1000 indian rupees.

Scholarship

  • No, I did not receive any scholarship.
  • One of my batchmates received a 25% scholarship on the overall fees for their master's degree.
  • 20 to 25 percent is generally considered by the college to offer scholarships on the overall fees and on average 5-6 people are able to get scholarships if they clear the criteria required for the scholarship.
