- Mechanical Engineering is of great importance in most contemporary technologies. Examples include aerospace, power generation, and conversion, fluid machinery, design and construction of mechanical systems, transportation, manufacturing, production, biomechanics, and others.
- This wide range of applications is reflected in the four main stems of the undergraduate curriculum-thermal and fluid systems, mechanics and materials, robotics and control systems, and biomechanics.
- A major effort of the department is directed toward the creation of a stimulating intellectual environment in which both undergraduate and graduate students can develop to their maximum potential.
