tudents explore traditional business areas, such as finance, accounting and marketing; but they also learn how to adapt to constant change. Through participation in startup competitions and hackathons, students experience both success and failure. They evolve an idea from initial concept to growing business, and they innovate, with sustainable and ethical business strategies.

The degree program focuses on three areas that fill an important need in the market: small and mid-size business, family business and social entrepreneurship. The coursework provides students with the knowledge and skills to:

• Identify opportunities in the market
• Bring new solutions, technologies or services to market that satisfy a need
• Create a new business/service (for-profit or non-profit) or extension of an existing organization
• Be successful as a startup or new venture employee

Entrepreneurship is an important and thriving component of central Texas? economy, and our curriculum addresses what industry leaders, such as the City of Austin Economic Development Department, Gerson Lehman Group and Ticketbud, say they need.
