- Students develop a strong foundation with courses in aural skills, music history, music theory, pedagogy, conducting, and others. The degree provides numerous large and small-scale ensemble and solo performance opportunities, including required third and fourth-year solo recitals.
- Graduates are prepared for a career as a professional performer or a studio teacher. Other areas requiring high-level performance skills include radio broadcast, television, film-making, church music programs, and professional orchestras and bands. The degree also prepares for graduate study.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Persons seeking admission to the University of Georgia Graduate School must hold a baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by the appropriate regional accrediting association or its international equivalent prior to the expected semester of matriculation with the exception of University of Georgia undergraduate students enrolled in linked bachelors/masters programs. Applicants should be ranked in the upper half of their undergraduate class. Applicants are responsible for submitting application materials required for admission.
