The  program’s unique curriculum blends the study of the basic sciences — anatomy and physiology —  with how they apply to the body’s health and wellness.

UToledo Physical Education graduates go on to either medical school or graduate school in the allied health professions, or seek health- and fitness-related careers in fields like strength and conditioning or corporate wellness.

Physical Education bachelor's degree highlights:

• Unrivaled opportunities for undergrad research. UT offers one of the few undergraduate exercise science programs in the country in which students can work side-by-side with graduate students and faculty mentors on research in state-of-the-art labs.

• Outstanding, active faculty. UToledo faculty members have diverse research interests and work closely with students as mentors. Several have won UT’s Outstanding Teacher of the Year award.

• Required internship for students in the health performance and fitness promotion track. They spend time in schools, hospitals and rehab facilities.

• Experiential learning.

Career opportunities:

About 80% of UToledo physical education students pursue graduate degrees in physical therapy, physician assistant studies, medical school or athletic training. The remainder find careers as health care and fitness professionals: personal trainers, corporate wellness professionals and strength and conditioning coaches.
