The Department of Music at University of San Diego offers an integrated study of music history, theory, composition and performance in a Liberal Arts environment. The professionally active faculty, student ensembles and guest artists contribute to a lively culture of performance and scholarly inquiry.
The music curriculum affords a broad basis of study in music within the context of the liberal arts education. The major provides a thorough knowledge of music literature from the Middle Ages to the present, through balanced course offerings in music theory and composition, music history and culture, and solo and ensemble performance. Most music majors select one of these areas for emphasis.
