Economics is the study of how we allocate resources among alternative uses to satisfy our wants. Virtually all of the public and personal issues which confront us today have an important economic component. For this reason, the economic way of thinking plays a valuable role in helping us make sense of the complex world in which we live. In addition, the study of economics is excellent preparation for a wide range of careers. Economics majors with bachelor's degrees are well prepared to be managers in both the public and private sectors. Training in economics also provides a solid basis for professional study in law, business, public administration, and the health sciences.
The Temple Economics Society is the student professional organization for economics majors and is open to all students interested in economics. Economics majors may also become members of Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE), the National Honor Society, if they meet the admissions requirements of the organization.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have an official secondary school transcript to get admission.
- Students are required to maintain at least a 3.0 overall GPA.
Language Requirments:
- Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores.
- Students are required to submit an SAT or ACT score to be considered for admission.
International students who currently or will hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, do not need to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report.
