- The degree gives students technical expertise to further their engineering career.
- Though designed for students with undergraduate mechanical engineering degrees, they can enter the program conditionally if they have a degree in another engineering or related field.

- At least 24 graduate credit hours of coursework
- At least three credit hours of graduate research
