Our faculty members take an interdisciplinary approach, drawing on resources across the university and within our communities. They'll help students to apply theory to real-life situations and develop the professional skills they will need to uphold justice and improve society.
As part of studies at UMass Dartmouth, students will learn about the criminal justice system's policies and procedures and analyze the nature of structural, institutional, and state violence. They will consider the causes and effects of racism, sexism, heterosexism, ageism, classism, etc.
Crime and justice studies provides a strong foundation for many careers from the justice system to community action, education, government, law, public administration, social work, and urban planning.
