This program is prepares students for non-performance careers in music and for certified teaching in public schools. Students study a wide selection of musical literature, developing the ability to hear, identify and work conceptually with the elements of music (rhythm, melody, harmony and structure). Students pursuing this degree are required to participate in activities of the Jazz Ensembles, Combos, Commercial Music Ensembles, and/or Traditional Music Ensembles. This program promotes the study of a variety of non-classical and non-ethnic musical styles. A minor of study is required for this degree.
