The B.F.A. in Art Education provides ample opportunity for creative exploration in studio areas as you also earn P-12 teacher certification. Graduates of this program are qualified to teach in public or private P-12 schools, or may choose to pursue graduate work in studio art or art education.
Students will be able to:- Understand and skillfully apply various media, techniques and technology in the production and presentation of art work.
- Work creatively with materials, media, symbols and ideas.
- Understand visual art and design in historical, philosophical and cultural contexts.
- Reflect upon and assess the characteristics and merits of their work and the work of others.
- Communicate about art effectively in written and oral form.
- Develop competencies in preparation for work as artists, designers, teachers and creative workers in the 21st century.
- BFA Portfolio Application reviewed by faculty.
- Completion of the Advanced BFA Studio/Design Studies course (ART 435).
- Sophomore Exhibition Mid-Program Assessment
- Senior Exhibition Assessment
- BFA Exhibition Assessment
- Completion of the senior survey in the Visual Arts Capstone course.
- Teacher certification students will take the Praxis II art content exam prior to clinical practice.
