- This major prepares students to teach in junior and senior high schools (grades 7-12). Mathematics Education majors complete many of the same courses that Mathematics majors complete.
- The Mathematics Education major requires courses in calculus, linear algebra, geometry, abstract algebra, the use of computers and mathematics software, statistics, and other mathematics courses of student’s choice.
- This program also requires students to take classes within the Global Miami Plan for Liberal Education. Through the plan's foundation courses, students will hone skills such as thinking critically, understanding contexts, reflecting and acting, and engaging with other learners. These courses are in the broad discipline areas of English composition, fine arts, humanities, social science, world cultures, natural science, formal reasoning, and in the social foundations of education. The principles and content of the foundation are the basis for the professional education sequence and content specialization.
