Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics who administer acute medical treatment in emergency situations are the backbone of the EMS system. Demand for these front-line emergency medical care providers is acute, and the need for experienced and educated emergency medical care providers to fill supervisory roles in management, administration, and education is also growing.?
New roles for emergency medical care providers are emerging through initiatives in community health, injury prevention, disaster preparedness and response, and anti-terrorism. The Bachelor of Science in Emergency Medical Care prepares the student for a leadership role in the growing field of pre-hospital care.?
The Emergency Medical Care program is centered around a core of clinical knowledge competencies, with an extended emphasis on developing skills in leadership, management, communication, education, and research. A modified academic schedule with classes held on one day of the week is offered to accommodate the full-time working professional.?
The Emergency Medical Care program is on the cutting edge in using distance education technology to facilitate students through the learning process. All students must have computers with Internet capabilities during their participation in the program.
