Gain expertise and an understanding of best practices in a range of programs, services, housing options, public policies, and management approaches related to the long-term care of older adults. Sharpen your communication and critical thinking skills, and acquire basic business skills in marketing, accounting, processes and human resources. Choose one of two concentrations:  care management or nursing home administration. In care management classes you'll learn to develop and implement plans of care for older adults and their family, and how to effectively intervene and advocate for them when they are managing major life challenges. Approved by the Michigan Department of Licensure and Regulatory Affairs, the nursing home administrator curriculum qualifies graduates to take the exams to become a licensed nursing home administrator.
