program from University of La Verne presents a wide range of entertaining challenging, thought-provoking, and high-quality productions each season. There have been more than 60 in the past decade across number performance venues on the central La Verne campus: the Dailey Theatre mainstage, the Jane Dibbell Cabaret, and more.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Theatre Arts Department is to prepare undergraduate students to be self-sufficient theatre artists with comprehensive skills in performance, technical theatre, directing and/or management, as well as an understanding of theatre history and literature.?

Students will equip themselves to be productive members of a larger theatre community that includes both professionals and non-professional theatre practitioners.

Theatre majors will:

• develop a working methodology for performance as an actor;

• demonstrate a practical ability in technical areas of stagecraft and/or design;

• respond critically to performances and works of dramatic literature;

• exhibit an understanding of the role and methods of the theatrical director;

• participate in the production of works for public presentation;

• organize, rehearse and present a production as a principal creative artist;

• see theatre as a means of speaking to a community and as a tool for social change; and

• prepare to assume their own development toward professional work as a theatre artist.
