The chemistry B.A. includes required and elective courses in analytical, organic, physical, biology, and inorganic chemistry. Students also have the option of working on a research project. This broad curriculum prepares students to work as chemists for a variety of industries. It also prepares students for graduate studies.

In addition to the extensive laboratory and classroom experiences offered through the chemistry program, research opportunities are also available through IU Kokomo's Undergraduate Research Summer Institute (URSI). Chemistry majors may also engage in individual study, which involves selecting a research area of interest, developing that research, and then presenting their findings both in writing and in an oral presentation. You can earn up to 12 elective credit hours through independent study. A research experience is highly encouraged for those students who want to attend a medical school. It is also highly desirable for students considering graduatestudies.
