  • Apparently, the department took initiatives in updating the course schedule to include courses related to using AI tools and how to build AI systems, starting from next year
  • Yes, I did work as a Research Assistant last summer, and there are plenty of research opportunities on campus. For industrial exposure, it depends on the market fluctuations and how lucky you can get to an interview stage in the first place
  • We get to choose our own classes. On average, you can expect to have around 2-3 classes a day, based on your class schedule. And they're typically anytime between 9 AM and 5 PM
  • It depends on the course; on average, you can have around 30 - 40 students per class

Fees

  • The program is typically 3 semesters long. Some of them extend it to 4. But if you're planning for 3 semesters, the total cost could come around $70,000 - $75,000. If you're planning for 4 semesters, it could cost you a little around $100,000

  • The coursework for a graduate degree is very robust, hands-on, and up to date, of course, but again, depending on what the departmental requirements are, that varies.
  • In most of the PhD programs, exposure to industry or additional research facilities depends on the research one is doing.

  • I currently live in one of Rice's graduate housing facilities. While students can live in one of these residences for the first year, most are required to move to off-campus housing afterwards.

The CS curriculum is very updated and rigorous with a few exceptions. There are a lot of opportunities for research experience and industrial exposure.

Fees

Tuition fees are irrelevant as if you are admitted they will only ask you to pay the amount that you can pay according to your family's financial ability. If you don't get aid tuition is around $49000 annually.

It is flexible and many different types of specialized courses are offered. The core course can be done in a better way. I think there is definitely a fair scope for improvement in the academic curriculum and the department always tries to improve it.

Fees

All Ph.D. positions are funded (so no tuition fee to worry about on your end) and you get paid a healthy stipend to support living costs.

The courses that are offered are all really interesting and well-done. However, there is simply a lack of variety and options every semester due to the fact that the school is quite small and has limited faculty members.

Fees

Undergraduate tuition is $46,600 a year with additional costs for housing and dining on campus. There are also charges that are added to the bill for student activity, recreational center usage, and health and wellness fees.

it is pretty rigorous, depending on the major you choose.

Fees

Somewhere around 70,000 US dollars including room and board. 45 thousand just tuition.
