B.S. in Construction Management from Central Washington University Overview
The American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) has accredited the four-year, 180-quarter-unit B.S. in Construction Management program, which is offered by the Department of Engineering Technologies, Safety, and Construction in the College of Education and Professional Studies. With practical instruction in scheduling, estimating, and building information modeling (BIM), it equips students for careers in construction project management, cost estimation, and site supervision. The program, which is offered in-person at the Ellensburg campus, takes advantage of CWU's close proximity to Seattle's construction hub (just 90 miles away) by offering internships and industry partnerships with companies such as Mortenson and Hensel Phelps. It enrolls about 100 students a year, with an acceptance rate of 88% (5–10% international). International students can participate in up to three years of Optional Practical Training (OPT) through the program's integration of STEM components (such as construction analytics). Within six months, 90% of graduates find work, landing positions such as superintendent, estimator, or project manager (median salary ~USD 65,000). With a student-to-faculty ratio of 19:1, CWU's 405-acre campus provides individualized instruction and career services, such as the yearly CWU Career Fair.
