This degree provides the foundation, advanced knowledge and skills to function as effective clinicians in a variety of sport, fitness and recreation settings. The Human Performance degree incorporates components such as sport nutrition; exercise and sport psychology; exercise physiology; motor behavior; biomechanics; and strength and conditioning which are viable to a wide variety of clinical populations.
At the completion of the Human Performance specialization, students will be able to:
- Apply core knowledge to evaluate a client?s health status involving pathophysiology, body composition, nutrition, medical history, pre-exercise evaluations, and psychology.
- Use of knowledge, investigatory and analytical thinking to analyze and evaluate movement and to prescribe exercises that promote health and enhance performance.
- Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that result in effective information exchanges while promoting safe and effective exercising to a variety of populations.
- Recognizing risk factors and their relationship to exercise, nutrition, and other lifestyle behaviors and understanding consultation with other health care professionals may be required
- Adhere to legal and regulatory practice requirements while displaying responsibility, ethical practice, and sensitivity to a diverse client population.
- Provide, assess, evaluate and improve client care practices that are of value by continually using statistics to calculate data in order to judge the strength and quality of a client?s set program
