The Department is well-equipped with modern instrumentation to serve its research needs. It is readily available to qualified graduate students for "hands-on" experience. The Department maintains the Core Campus NMR, Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics facilities. The NMR core facility includes 200, 300, and 400 MHz solution-state NMR spectrometers and 100, 200, 300, and 400 MHz wide-core solid-state NMR spectrometer with GC, HPLC, Pryolsis and fast-atom bombardment capabilities, a 7T Bruker APEX ESI FTMS and a Bruker BIFLEX MALDI-TOF spectrometer. The Proteomics core sample preparation facility is also operated by the Department for the university community. The Department's spectroscopy facility includes two BioRad FTS 40 AFT-IRs with microscope, ATR and DRIFT abilities, a laser spectroflourometer with lifetime measurement capability, a double monochromator spectroflourometer with lifetime measurement capabilities, FRET and single molecule FRET microscopes. In addition to those departmental resources, individual research groups maintain their own specialized instrumentation.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must hold an undergraduate degree in agriculture, biology, botany, horticulture, agriculture, environmental science, natural resources, or another related field from an accredited institution.
- An undergraduate 3.0 GPA from an accredited college or university is required.
- Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE scores.
Indian Student Eligibility:
- Students must complete a 4-year undergraduate degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
- Students need to have a minimum of first-class or upper Second with a minimum of 60-80% on an institutional basis.
