The Communication, Electronic Media/Broadcasting (BS) major at Appalachian State University teaches you more than learning how to read a Teleprompter. You?ll learn the tools needed for career success in any aspect of broadcasting. Classes give a well-rounded knowledge of the field, from sales programming to writing for commercials or news. Internships and on-campus media opportunities will give even greater technical expertise.
In the new Beasley Media Complex, you will work with up-to-date facilities including 20 audio and video editing suits and modern TV studios. You will learn to edit video using Final Cut Pro, edit audio with Avid Media Composer, and get experience as camera operators and audio and technical directors.
Students in this program are highly sought after because of the practical opportunities their classes and internships provide. Some students complete two or more internships by the time they graduate. Opportunities for practical experience include the Department of Communication?s award-winning radio station WASU and newly launched AppTV, and Appalachian Athletics. You will also be prepared to become a stringer for North Carolina news networks or apply for the prestigious Kellar Radio Talent Institute, a farm system for the radio industry.

Academic Requirements:
