Completing Appalachian State University?s Anthropology (BS) - Biological Anthropology degree is a great way to prepare for medical school, a career in forensic science, or a career in biological anthropology. Biological anthropologists use skeletal remains and observational data to study the relationship between biology and culture as well as the biological evolution of primates (human and non-human). By understanding the bio-cultural aspect of human history, we seek a better understanding of who we are and who we came from. This gives a clearer picture of how our biology works within the cultural and social systems in history and today.

In this program, you will have access to the Department of Anthropology?s human skeletal collection and fossil cast collection, which are used for teaching and research in biological anthropology, skeletal morphology and forensic analysis. The department also houses state-of-the-art lab equipment as well as a large vertebrate osteological comparative collection.
