What Students Say
Likes
- Lots of opportunities for getting assistantships
Dislikes
- But small city, so not a ton of exposure
Course Curriculum
- Texas State is not known for its coursework
- No industrial or research experience since I was non thesis
Admission Experience
- I wanted to get an assistantship and in-state, plus living closer to a city like Austin is what I wanted, and that is why I chose Texas State.
Class Schedule
- Maximum of 3 classes per day, mostly after 5 30 PM to 9 PM
Faculty
- Jill Seaman is one of the best professors I have ever had in my life, don't miss her classes. The rest of the faculty are approachable and helpful
Campus Life
- Such a beautiful campus and city; tons of clubs - as well as an Indian Student Association who conduct events throughout the year; REC is great, everything accessible by shuttle during the regular season. But if you choose Texas State, get ready for a ton of stairs
Part Time Jobs
- GIA, GTA, and TA available especially in the CS department; allowed to work 20 hours within campus; in recent years its been difficult to find other on-campus jobs.
Placement
- The employment is, of course, based on the individual and not the university itself, not a ton where able to secure jobs within 6 months. Internships during a degree help a ton; if not, referrals are the only way.
Accommodation
- Used apartments.com to find accommodation; it was fairly cheap when compared to other cities
Exams
- My scores: GRE 306, TOEFL 98, minimum requirement: 78 TOEFL
- 78 TOEFL, required 3 LORs and a CV with a Statement of Purpose
Fees
- 45000 USD
