Course Curriculum

8

  • The course curriculum is very relevant to the field. The faculty tries their best to introduce the new technology or the techniques that are in high demand in the market. However, I was disappointed with the course catalog that they showed on the website.
  • Many of the non-mandatory approved elective courses shown in the course catalog for my program were not available, which was a letdown.
  • The classes used to take place between 9:00 Am and 8:00 PM. Not more than 2 classes per day, but it also depends on the courses you choose and their schedule.

Admission Experience

  • I chose the Spears School of Business for my master's degree based mostly on 4 factors,
    • The tuition was not very high
    • Highly ranked program
    • The placement statistics were great.
    • There were assistantship opportunities available for students based on the reviews.
  • The admission requirements include test scores, transcripts, and a good SOP and LOR.
  • My Scores: GRE 323, TOEFL 109

Faculty

10

  • The faculty is good. There is a good faculty-to-student ratio. The faculty are very approachable and helpful.

Campus Life

8

  • The campus infrastructure is good. The Spears School of Business has a relatively new building. The campus life is good. If you are interested in something other than academics, there are many things to take up and try. The library is a great place to study and finish assignments. There are separate sections where you can talk and where there is pin-drop silence.
  • There are rooms available to book for group meetings, etc. The sports facilities are also good. They have great equipment in the gym, along with many indoor and outdoor sports.

Part Time Jobs

  • There are part-time job opportunites availabe at campus. for part time campus jobs, students get around $11/hr, and for TA/GA/GRA jobs, it depends on the department. One can get anything from 1400 to 2300 a month for 20 hours a week (0.5 FTE). Finding part time opportunites is not very difficult, but not very easy either, because all the international students are looking for such opportunities.

Placement

6

  • Earlier, the placement rate was about 95% within 3 months of graduation and 100% within 6 months of graduation. For the program that I went to, the median salary is about $90, 000. However, things have changed lately. The US job market is not very great, and it has become difficult to fing full time opportunities as a recent graduate, especially if you are an international student. There are career fairs that take place every semester for the students to go and interact with companies and find opportunities. The program also helps wint opportunites from the alumni network.
  • The common method to find jobs here is networking; online job portals sometimes help. If you have an internship, there are high chances that it will convert ot a full-time offer. So, getting an internship is the best thing that can happen regarding your job search. But again, everything is not what it used to be. Finding jobs is getting increasingly difficult. From my cohort, around 30% students, including myself, are still looking for job opportunites and it is almost 1 year after graduation.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • I rented my own 1 bedroom appartment. The rent and utilities were about $1000 a month. The students who apply for and get campus housing pay much less about 750 for a two-bedroom apartment, all-inclusive. So if they live with a roommate, the expenses are cut in half.

Exams

  • Exams: GRE and TOEFL
  • Documents: 3 LOR, Statement of Purpose, and CV. The admission form also asked some long-answer type questions. There were a couple of interviews as well.

Fees

  • My program was two years long, and the estimated tuition fee for my program was $22,635 for nine months, according to my I20. But if you get assistantships you tuition is waived.
