Course Curriculum

8

  • The course curriculum is very flexible. I have chosen Information Science and Technology. My course requirements are to complete 30 credits with 12 credits of 6000+ level courses and 18 credits of 5000+ level courses. 6000-level courses are project-heavy courses compared to 5000-level courses, which are less difficult.
  • The main advantage of my course is the flexibility to choose subjects from different departments, be it Computer Science,Business, Finance or Enterprise Resource Plannings.
  • Typically the classes are scheduled between 9am and 4pm. And for me, mostly having classes daily from 2-4pm.
  • The number of students in a class on average would be 40 students.
  • Almost 60% enrolled for my major are Indians but overall at the university level Indians are less than 5%

Admission Experience

  • I have applied for 6 universities, which are as follows:
  • Missouri S&T, ASU, Cleveland state University, University of Illinois springfield, university of Massachusetts Dartmouth and University of Central Missouri.
  • My application was rejected for ASU and for the rest I got accepted. I think one of the reasons would be my low GPA during my undergrad. And also I have applied almost at the end of the admission term.
  • My major factors are
    • Got scholarships
    • Universities was ranked good in the US
    • Best ROI compared to other universities
    • Safe neighborhoods
    • Had Good Academic program with specific certifications track for career advancements
  • Admission Process:
    • Start with an online application with my personal/educational information.
    • Need to give 3 Letter of Recommendations from previous college/workplace
    • English proficiency like IELTS and GRE
    • Latest degree Transcripts
  • Overall my admission process went smoothly; a decision was made within 2 weeks of completing the application process.
  • The Admission team really helped me while getting into the college, as I faced some visa challenges but managed to overcome it with guidance from the university.
  • Applied for Fall intake but later due to personal reasons, I had to defer my intake for Spring semester.
  • Admission process went smoothly, as already mentioned. My admission results came very fast, like within 2 weeks.
  • After confirmation from my end by paying $200 in I-20 fees. University held an online meeting with all the future potential students and guided us with the visa process and all the required documents and things to be done after coming to the US and everything.

Faculty

10

  • The typical ratio is 40:1; the teaching style varies from professor to professor and subject to subject while some courses require hands-on projects, while some are theoretically centric.
  • But professors are very friendly and approachable. If they don’t have time, their TAs helps to clarify doubts etc.
  • Some professors guide students to find part-time and full-time jobs by giving letters of recommendation, which have high importance during the job application process, as they indicate the student's commitment during his tenure as a student on campus.

Campus Life

10

  • Our Campus has many facilities, like the REC centre for physical exercise (gym, pool, volleyball, basketball, badminton, etc.), the library, and Student clubs (SDLC, Makers studio, Dance club, football club etc).
  • The university's biggest festival is Saint Pats day during the spring season and During Fall it has to be Celebrations of Nation.
  • There are almost 200+ student clubs varying from sports to educational-driven clubs backed by professors and the Student Involvement Department.

Part Time Jobs

  • It’s very competitive but there are opportunities for TAs, RAs, etc.
  • There were plenty of job opportunities on campus that varied from academic like grader, teaching assistant, and research assistant. In other departments like Sports, Dining Services, Student Wellbeing, and Student Support departments like the Student Success Centre, the Writing Department and other Office departments.
  • Most people like to apply for TA, RA and grader positions; after that, they apply for sports-related jobs at the REC centre and also tend to apply for their department-related jobs for IST and CS majors, they apply for IT support positions on campus.
  • Dining services, as it has a lot of positions available. University strict follow FERPA and equal opportunity principles so all the hiring was done via online application portal handshake, myHR etc

Placement

8

  • Genuinely, I don’t know about the stats but many of my friends who have passed out from this university had either secured a job or internship within 6 months of graduation.
  • Major sources of job opportunities would come from online platforms like LinkedIn and job boards and also from university career fairs.
  • Some of my batchmates were lucky enough to get internships during the summer and a few got the opportunity to get co-ops, and recently one of my friends got a full-time job opportunity before graduation.

Accommodation

Off Campus
8

  • I have opted for Off campus. Because financially it’s viable compared to on Campus.
  • I found my accommodation with the help of the college-provided WhatsApp community and with some enquiries from my friend.
  • Monthly rent varies from 500-975$
  • My accommodation is very much nearer to the campus; it takes roughly 5 min. to walk from my place to reach the university.
  • The location is very safe with 3 different law enforcement agencies patrolling 24/7.

Exams

  • For the Admission they have asked for English proficiency test like IELTS, TOEFL, or GRE (Optional)
  • Documents required are three letters of Recommendation, Statement of Purpose, Resume and unofficial Transcripts.
  • There was no interview as part of the application process but once we are admitted. We will be scheduled for 2 calls with the admission team and one with the DSO person to guide the visa process.

Fees

  • My Overall Fee Structure for academics is $36000 after scholarships are applied.
    • Off-campus expenses: $15000 for 2 years
    • Got Scholarships of $15000.
    • For 3 semesters – Paid 11000
    • For the Last Semester paid $3000.
  • The fee is based on a credit-based structure. Monthly expenses vary between $600 and $1000 off campus.
  • There are many on-campus job opportunities to help students meet their monthly financial needs

Scholarship

  • One of the strongest areas for this university is scholarships; there are plenty of opportunities to get one.
  • Based on academic record, all the applied students for their master's programme are eligible for a specific scholarship programme, in addition to that, which can be granted based on your academic performance and achievements after the 1st semester.
  • Important note: All Applicants have a very high chance of getting a scholarship. I mean, personally, I didn’t see any student without a scholarship.
