Course Curriculum

8

  • The difficulty level varies for different subjects, but on average, it’s manageable and good.
  • Positive: Great focus on advanced topics.
  • Negative: Fewer industry opportunities available nearby.
  • Usually 1–3 classes per day, with timings starting from 8 AM and going up to 5 PM.
  • Around 25–50 students in class
  • Approximately 15–20% of the students are Indian enrolled

Admission Experience

  1. Applied in following universities:-

Status for each college you applied to:
     • Clemson University: Admitted
     • Arizona University: Admitted
     • Drexel University: Admitted
     • Northeastern University: Admitted
     • University of Pittsburgh: Admitted
     • SDSU (San Diego State University): Rejected
     • Syracuse University: Rejected

  2. Colleges I received confirmed admission from:

     • Clemson University
     • Arizona University
     • Drexel University
     • Northeastern University
     • University of Pittsburgh
     • Colleges where you received a rejection:
     • SDSU (San Diego State University)
     • Syracuse University

  • Possible reasons for rejection:-I feel mostly it’s because I applied but late for these Universities. Ideally we should start by September one year back but I applied them in early January of the admit year.

  • I chose this University because it’s an economical option for me with good opportunity for on campus Job. We have Co-op options after one year. University has great research foundation and I feel ROI will be great here.

  • The admission process involved submitting an online application, writing a cover letter, and providing Letters of Recommendation (LOR). I received a response within 2-3 weeks, and the rest was similar to other universities.

  • IELTS and GRE is mandatory here and for a confirm admit score of 300+ in GRE is must.

  • My overall experience was good. I got responses on expected time and Clemson was the quickest among all the other universities I applied. I got the response like in 15 days.

  • I applied for the Fall 2024 intake. After 2 plus year of job experience I decided to pursue Masters and want to upgrade my skills and level my professional life.

  • The entire process took around 2-3 months: • Step 1: Submitted the online application. • Step 2: Received the acceptance letter within a few weeks.• Step 3: Obtained the I-20 document. • Step 4: Applied for the F-1 visa."

Faculty

8

  • The faculty-to-student ratio is 16:1, which is pretty good and allows for decent interaction with the professors.
  • The teaching approach depends on the level of your course. For master’s programs, the content may not always be extensive enough to make you job-ready, but it largely depends on your interest and dedication to the field.
  • Some professors come from industry backgrounds and might help with referrals, but this depends on how well you connect and network with them.
  • I have completed just the first semester, so I cannot comment on this yet

Campus Life

10

  • The university has 2 campuses, one in Clemson and another in Charleston.
  • Facilities available: ,Cafes,Canteen,Gym,Swimming pool,Indoor play facilities, Football ground
  • The university is well-known for its football culture, with Clemson Tigers being a three-time winner. Matches are a major event and are held at the famous Death Valley, the home ground of the Clemson Tigers.
  • There are always events happening on campus, ranging from sports to cultural activities. Sports, especially football, are a major attraction. There are also student organizations and clubs for a variety of interests, promoting active student engagement and participation.

Part Time Jobs

  • Around 35–50 students per course students typically secure Teaching Assistant (TA), Research Assistant (RA), or Departmental Assistant (DA) positions
  • The pay range is $15 to $20 per hour.
  • Apart from TA, RA, and GA positions, there are catering jobs through Aramark, which usually pay between $10 and $15 per hour.
  • Students can work up to 20 hours per week during the first year, which can increase to 40 hours per week during internships or breaks.
  • TA, RA, and GA positions depend on factors like grades and your CV, but catering jobs and other part-time roles are generally always open until you secure an assistantship.
  • Assistantships are the most preferred option as they are better than catering jobs, provide more time for academics, and sometimes offer a complete fee waiver.  1. Students typically earn between $10 and $20 per hour, 2.Assistantships depend on your profile, grades, and CV, so they can be competitive. Catering and other campus jobs are relatively easier to secure,3, Assistantships: Applications are usually emailed by the course coordinator.
  • Other campus jobs: These can be viewed and applied for on the Clemson job website.Catering jobs: Applications are submitted through Aramark.

6

  • Job fair happens twice a year and many companies nearby to the campus comes to the job fair. There is domination of Civil and Mechanical Engineering based companies in the job fair
  • Not very sure but a good percentage of people gets job and even internship after one year.
  • Earning upon graduation $6,000 to $10,000 per month for Master Students.
  • Most students use online job portals, attend job fairs, apply directly on company portals, or use LinkedIn. Referrals can also play an important role.
  • Typically, job placements involve 2–3 rounds of interviews. Specific companies or roles are unclear, but placements are very subjective and varies as per companies.
  • There is not major company as far as I know

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • Accommodation did I opt for Off-campus.
  • I used online platforms and Facebook groups to find it.
  • The rent was $450–$500 for a furnished space, including utilities like WiFi, electricity, and water.
  • Searching from India doesn’t provide an exact idea about the space or surroundings, and you also need to find a pair or group to share the accommodation.
  • Try searching through groups or connecting with people to form a group. This will help you figure out better options and plan for upcoming accommodations.
  • My accommodation is about 2 km from campus. Most Indian students stay in a place called Tillman Place.I’m
