Course Curriculum

8

  • I would say it was not that difficult to study here but you have to be very careful with the plagiarism. They take plagiarism very seriously. We get to have both theoretical and practical knowledge here at this university.
  • Positive aspect of this course is we have 3 fields to explore, like data analytics, cybersecurity, and project management.
  • Negative aspect I didn’t get to see as I loved the course. In a day, we can schedule 0 to 2 classes. It is completely dependent on us. There are mostly Indian students in this university.

Admission Experience

  • When I first got this thought of doing masters, I researched many universities. My main considerations were less fee, good academics, and less cost of living. Then I started searching the universities. I got to see many universities with this criteria but then I shortlisted some more. Since I had these criteria, I thought of selecting a college with all of them and applied to 2 universities. One is a million-state university and the other is Central Michigan University. I got acceptance from both universities. I got admissions from both of them.
  • I was rejected from any of the universities that I applied for. Since I got a good score in IELTS, I got admissions from the universities I applied to. I wrote the IELTS exam and nothing more. I put 7 bands in that and applied with the same score.
  • As I said in the above field, I chose this university because of my requirements and criteria. My main motivation to do masters is to get exposure and to gain this masters degree. That's the main thing that I expected and I gained from this university. Now, as a graduate student, I got so much experience here. The admissions process was not really tough but I got to follow up so much with them since they said the volume of students was higher and they were a little late in giving admission letters. The eligibility criteria for this university is only IELTS, where the band should be 6.5 and more. It is not that tough to gain that high score. The overall admission process was easy and I got the i20 in 2 weeks. I never faced any challenges while getting the admission, but after that, every day was challenging to me.
  • I applied for fall India 2023. As I already mentioned in other fields, I had some criteria, and the environment near this university influenced me a lot. The admissions process took 2 weeks and the deadline was oct 2nd week for the fall semester. For each semester, we have different timelines. For spring it’s different i think its march 2nd weeks for summer april 2nd weeks and for fall as i already said its october 2nd weeks.

Faculty

10

  • Management is very particular about the student-staff ratio. We have one staff for 25 students so that professor can concentrate on everyone and teach in a proper manner and clear students doubts.
  • Teaching is nothing but they show us the reality of IT first. They don't teach us the subject much but tell us how to learn things and where to learn from. Faculty doesn't assist any jobs; it is only that we have career fairs, which are a bit useful to students searching for internships and jobs.

Campus Life

10

  • We have many campuses, like Grey Hall, Woldt Hall, the music building, the student activity centre and many more. We can't name each and every building as we have many to see.
  • We have a very big library where 1000 students can occupy and study and we also have SAC where students play and work out. The campus festivals are Freshers Day, Diwali Night, Farewell, and Graduation Day.

Part Time Jobs

  • Opportunity is based on how we grab it. There are opportunities out there and we can find some by searching in handshake. We have opportunities like GA and TA where we are paid up to 15 dollars an hour for 20 hours a week. We have other on-campus jobs like cleaning and gardening and cooking food. Any job is only for 20 hours a week. Not more thant.
  • It is hard to get one job on campus but we have to try our best to get one.
  • Students can earn up to $800 a month by getting $10 an hour and 20 hours a week. Salary is dependent on what work we do. A ga can get 15 dollars an hour, and other employees who work as part-time employees get 10 dollars, which is not at all same but we have to adjust with what we get because finding jobs is so much harder here on campus due to heavy competition around us. The process for applying for a part-time job is searching through the college website, where they post openings on the jobs. It usually fills out in 10 minutes. We have to be wise enough to fill out the forms and upload the resume.

Placement

6

  • Percentage can be calculated with the graduate passing out but getting jobs is not that easy in this competition. There are many students out there who are unemployed. Students join into consultancy for marketing themselves and place themselves in a job. So its not that easy.
  • My friends did the same after graduating from the university.
  • In michigan ford and gmc are the major companies which hire students a lot but who has experience in their field.

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • Accommodation is super here. Its fabulous. We have well-maintained kitchens, bathrooms, and rooms. To find accommodation we have different websites and also university dorms, which are quite expensive but are very good and fabulous.
  • We can expect to pay about $200 for each semester, excluding food. Monthly rent can reach up to 450$. Facilities are like kitchens and bathrooms.
  • We have dining places separate where we can order food and eat. Especially students in hostels can use them with flex points, which can be bought while paying the hostel fees.

Exams

  • To get admission in this university, we have to write IELTS mainly. Other than this exam, nothing more is required. We can also submit GR if we have one that can be used to get scholarships and GA positions.
  • We need to complete our SOP lor and CBC before applying for any masters degree. Those are the main documents that a bachelor’s graduate should have to apply for a PG or masters. Interview was a part of getting visa but I didn’t have to attend any other interviews in order to get admission to the universities.

Fees

  • The fee structure is quite good compared to other universities in Michigan. The breakfown can be done like a university fee of 2 semesters a year.
  • It has tuition, and if we want, we can include a hostel if we wish to stay in Holes. Book charges and portal charges are also included in tuition. Since its 2 semesters a year, we have a flex plan to pay the tuition fee every semester.
  • For each subject, its 2500$ and you have to take 3 subjects andatory. Fee is semester-wise and credit-based. Each subject has 3 credits and the entire masters course is 36 credits. The monthly expenses are based on how we are living here. It has ranged from $100 to $2500 a month.

Scholarship

  • I received a scholarship for my studies and the GPA I got in my bachelor’s degree. This is given to students who have 3.0 and more than that out of 4.
  • Also, every student can apply for a graduate assistantship, which is open to all. Every semester we have this chance to apply. Criteria is we have to have 4 GPa and good communication skills.
  • My batchmates also received the scholarship, as they also have 3 GPA. Mostly every year, 30 to 40 students get the scholarships and graduate assistantships.
