What Students Say
Likes
- I liked most about my college is the student advising which helps the students to clear their confusions in successfully completing their course work.
- It surprises me most that the lecture here is so engaging and fun.
- All the campus facilities such as recreation centers with doctors and nurses to help on campus incase of any medical emergency. And also the recreation center with all the gym equipment for those who need.
Dislikes
- I didn't like that there were less on campus jobs for international students, which a lot of students faces challenges with managing their finances.
- Few professors are not fair enough with all the students.
- oxic people, don't become friends with everyone you meet. People cheat and they don't show their original behavior initially.
Course Curriculum
-
The difficulty level was moderate to hard, it was a mix of both theoretical and practical, for almost all the courses enrolled we have to submit a project by the end of the semester.
-
There is like two courses that seem of no use as they are not much useful for me in my course work, but the university added this course as recommended inorder to fulfil the graduate student requirements.
Admission Experience
-
I have applied to 5 Universities
1. Wayne State University - Admitted, did not choose because the fee structure in my I-20 was very expensive and also no scholar ship offered.
2. Bradley University- Admitted
3. Central Michigan University- Deferred Admit for Spring 23 and admitted
4. University of Illinois - Rejected due to late application and LOR was also sent late so the decision was late
5. University of Bridgeport- Received Admit. -
I choose Bradley University mainly because of the scholarship around 30% is offered.
-
We have to submit the application via university portal and then a decision will be made on rolling basis with in three weeks. Next we have to submit all the academic documents and also go ahead with visa process as well at the same time.
-
GRE- 290 + recommended,IELTS- 6 above,TOFEL also accepted but no idea about the cutoff.
-
Over all admission process was smooth and received help from the International student services if I had any queries
-
I have applied for Fall intake, there are not major factors for me taking this decision but the only thing is that I considered weather as main factor because if we go for fall intake it will be useful for us to get used to the weather changes happen over there, instead of just landing into a minus degrees and having health issues
-
It took a minimum of 4 months for me including the day I started sending my scores and application to the universities
Class Schedule
-
The number of classes scheduled depends on your choice, typically it would be one or two in a day for 90 minutes each session.
-
18-20 students in class and 50 % are Indian students.
Faculty
-
1:18 is the student to faculty ratio, the professor will focus on each and every student in the class as there are less number of students
-
Yes faculty members help the students in securing internships or full time jobs through their personal work and references, also few professors fund the students by taking them in their research work and help them secure jobs.
Campus Life
- Our college is located in just one campus with around 25 -30 buildings
- We have library, gym, medical room, club for sports and extra curricular activities.
- We have a event called BUNIGHT every month end which includes all the fun activities such as games and also lots of food .
- We have ISA organizing may regional festivals according to the festivals one such we celebrate from india are holi and diwali festivals.
Part Time Jobs
-
Around 30 -50 students get all the above mentioned positions and their pay varies according to the funding available for the professor guiding the student.
-
The pay rage is usually around $10-15$ per hour.
-
Other on-campus jobs include the jobs in catering services, help desks or service desk jobs
-
Maximum 20 hours during the semester and can work up to 40 hours during a semester break.
-
Students earn around $10-$15 on an hourly basis in their parttime jobs. We have to apply on the university job portal by going through all the steps such as submitting an application, resume, attending interviews and background check as well as the student should follow all the paper work related to the joining procedures. It is really very hard for students in securing on campus jobs these days.
Placement
- 80-90% of the graduating batch secure employment with in 6 months of graduating.
- The salary ranges depends on the level of experience that the student has, on an average it is around 80-90k USD for an entry level role.
- Students do follow all the above mentioned ways to land into a job after graduation.
- Caterpillar and OSF health care are the major companies that offer jobs to students
Accommodation
- I am able to find my accommodation with the help of student advisor and members from ISA.
- Our monthly rent was around $375 per person for a 3 bedroom house which costs around a total of $1125 for the entire housing, which includes washer, dryer, lawn moving, trash, Gas stove, refrigerator, and conventional oven.
- Honestly, I did not find any challenges while finding accommodation.
- My accommodation is at a distance of 0.5 miles which we can reach by a 5-10 min walk.
