- It provides day 1 CPT if you are undergoing a 9-months program.
- The duration of the program is just 9 months.
- The college organizes various events to prepare for every step towards the job interview.
Dislikes
- You'll have to spend thrice the amount spent in class to complete the projects and assignments.
- The time flies really fast since the duration is just of 9 months.
- The job market for finance professionals is not very welcoming towards the international students. This one is not about the college but the field in general. Therefore, you'll have to put in a lot of efforts to get a job.
Course Curriculum

- The course is pretty and easy to follow and the faculty is very supportive. You can always reach out to them. It is both theoretical and practical. You work on various software's.
- The positive is the exposure to various accounting and analytics software and negative aspect is it gets over really soon.
Admission Experience
- I only applied to University of Washington. I was pretty confident that I'll get in. I am a Chartered Accountant from India and have 2 years of post qualification experience. Though there were 2 other colleges that I was considering - Ohio State University and
- University of California Irvine. I got into UW Tacoma before applying to any of these two universities.
- The factors that influenced my decision includes Day 1 CPT provided by the college, the tuition is relatively less as compared to the other universities and the duration of the college being just 9 months.
- The admission process is pretty easy. I was exempt from GMAT since my overall GPA was more than 3.2 and the 2+ years of work experience. But you are required to take ILETS and get a score of 180 and above.
- The admission process requires the following-
- Get the transcripts from the universities you attended in India (They only require the highest qualification transcripts)
- Take ILETS and score more than 180.
- You will need to write an essay on the topic asked by the university in the application.
- You'll be in a good position if you have all of the above.
- I applied for Autumn intake. I did so because if you apply for autumn, the overall duration of the course remains the same i.e, 9-months. But if you apply in Winter or spring, the overall duration of the course is 1 year as there are no classes in summer.
- The entire process took around 2 months from applying to receiving acceptance. I applied in December and the confirmation in February.
Class Schedule

- We just have 1 class a day and that is conducted in evening from 5:50 pm to 9pm
- The class usually has around 30 students.
- More than half of the students in my class are Indian.
Faculty

- There are 50 something students and 5 faculty members. Because of this ratio, it is easy to connect with faculty.
- You should and sometimes required to go through the chapters before the class so that you can ask questions and be more aware what is going on in the class. The course content and teaching approach is never sufficient to prepare you for securing a job in your field. You will have to take your efforts.
- Yes, faculty members assist students in finding part-time or full-time jobs through their personal networks or references. You can always reach out to them.
- I really admire our tax professor. He is super helpful and makes the class interactive.
Campus Life

- College has 3 campuses - Seattle, Tacoma and Bothel.
- There are a lot of facilities available on the campus such as the library, sports facilities, gym membership, pantry, food truck ones a week and medical services
- One of the major event that the college has is "Meet the professionals" event for accounting students where you meet and greet potential recruiters.
- There is a student organization for accounting. There are a lot of cultural events including Diwali conducted on the campus.
Part Time Jobs
- There are part time opportunities available on the campus that pays around $20 per hour. Since this course provides Day 1 CPT, students usually apply off-campus for full time roles and most students get a job in their 2nd quarter itself.
- But there are opportunities available on campus which allows you to work for 25 hours.
- It is not very easy to score on campus part time jobs.
- You can earn around $20-30 per hour in your part time or full time role. You can apply through linkedin, indeed and handshake. College helps with the resume review.
- It takes a while to secure a job here but with constant efforts, you can find one. Toy should start applying as soon as the quarter starts and work on your resume.
- Avoid thinking about the money initially since you need some experience in the states before scoring a job that you dreamt about.

Accommodation
Off Campus

- I searched online and found the accommodation. Did not use any agent or group for the same.
- The monthly rent will vary basis the location and number of roommates that you have. We pay around $3k per month for 2BHK. You will get a parking, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer.
- There are accommodation available near college. You just have to be sure where do you wanna stay i.e, near college or someplace else.
- There are a lot of places near campus that one can look for basis their budget and requirement. I know a lot of Indians are staying at an apartment called Rooks.
- The accommodation is pretty near to college and most Indians are staying around that.
Exams
- You are just required to take ILETS and score 180 and above. There is a requirement of GRE which is exempted if you have a GPA of 3.2 and above and you have 2+ years of work experience in the accounting and finance field. Besides that you are not required to take any exam
- You will need statement of Purpose, Resume and transcripts
- There is no interview part in the application process.
Fees
- The college fees is around 24k payable quarterly. This amount just includes the tuition fees. They do not provide hostel accommodation.
- This is for 9-months program. There is an 18-month program as well and fees will be different for that. I am attending the 9-months program, thus all the information relates to it.
- Monthly expense can will vary from 1200-1500 USD per month. This will vary from individual to individual. This includes $1000 per month towards rent and rest towards grocery and miscellaneous.
- Also, you will need to buy books that will be around $1k every quarter and insurance of around $250 per quarter.
Scholarship
- I did not receive any scholarship during the year. My classmates did. You can find the scholarship details on the college website.
- The college website lists all the scholarships and the eligibility criteria. Do you research and apply on time.
- I had missed the deadline for the most of them as I was busy with my work. Most scholarships require you to write essays and share your experience.
