Since I was a resident of the state it was very easy for me to get it. I had to take a test called the ACT. I took it twice and got a very decent score. I was immediately accepted into the freshman class that year.

There were eight semesters worth of credits. And I truly think that it is a scam how much an individual credit costs. So it is about 15 credit hours a semester. Each one was worth around $900 and grouped 3 or 4 per class.

Campus Life

There were lots of clubs on campus. I was in the radio station as extracurricular the entire time that I was there and cherish the memories. There's also very active Greek scene that took up a lot of my free time.

Placement

Most famous alumni from the University of South Dakota is broadcaster Tom Brokaw. I became a journalist after college and worked in different areas for radio news but I don't think it necessarily helped me become a better journalist. I did that.

Accommodation

Off Campus
3

I slept in a dorm for the first semester and then I joined a fraternity and lived in it for half of my time there. After that I short-term rented places around the town. Meal Plans were overpriced and predatory.

Fees

It was all covered through student loans. Because loans are so easy to get it encouraged the university to charge more than they had to. It was extremely expensive to be a freshman or sophomore because of things like cafeteria credit and paper printing.

Scholarship

I received a scholarship for writing a short essay on Native American issues in the state. It was just read by the Native American studies department and ranked. I applied for more but only really was awarded that one.
