- The alumni network of USC is very strong and would help me find a job by networking. Prof. Shrikanth is one of the reasons why I chose this university. His work in signal processing is outstanding. The location of the university is in the Silicon Beach and is excellent for Tech.

I’m still in my first semester at USC, so I’m still getting used to the curriculum. It is very difficult to take out time for applying for internships and then giving their online assessments, preparing for interviews. All of this has to be done in conjunction with the numerous assignments that we get every single week which eats up a lot of out time.
Course Curriculum
My degree concentration is Machine Learning and Data Science and the coursework is pretty focused on Machine Learning.
Exams
My scores: GRE 161 Verbal and 158 Quant 4.5 AWA; TOEFL 110/120 GRE was not required for USC and for TOEFL, it should be 20+ in each individual section and 90+ overall. Yes, I had to submit LOR, SOP and my CV. Include all the relevant projects you’ve done and any relevant work experience you might have. Make sure your SOP is readable and there’s a connection between one paragraph to another. Documents required: Transcripts, 3 LORs, SOP.
Placement
There are numerous labs on campus that allow for research opportunities in various disciplines. 100s of companies show up for the career fair. The notable ones include Intel, Samsung, Microsoft, Walmart etc. These companies mostly visited for SDE roles or PM roles. There is almost 90% placement record for USC Viterbi.
Fees
Approximately 72000$.
Faculty
Ratio is 9:1 The professors are experts in their chosen fields and are always ready to help students out. Prof Bart Kosko changed the way I approached probability and that is something I will always remember.
Campus Life
USC is an extremely lively school with loads of opportunities for extracurriculars but the curriculum is extremely demanding, limiting your ability to take part in said extracurriculars. The Leavey Library is extremely well maintained and is open 24 hours a day. There are two recreational centres here and they have state of the art sports facilities. There is Wifi available throughout the USC campus and USC village.
Hostel
There are private rooms available but they are not cost effective. The average rent including utilities for a shared room are 750$ per month. This is the most cost effective option.
