Students combine their musical expertise with other areas of study to develop a project in consultation with a music adviser. A written proposal must be submitted to the music faculty prior to senior year. Examples of recent projects include: a lecture-recital on French music from the late 18th century; research into philosophy and music aesthetics which resulted in an interactive presentation of a "deep listening" experience; exploration of the phenomenon of synesthesia by a visual artist/music/religion major; and a business plan for a community music school.
