Get a solid in solid foundation in music while also having the benefit of a liberal arts education. Both the Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Music Degrees in Music Education lead to certification to teach in the public schools. The education courses are the same for both degrees.
Students graduating with either the Bachelor of Arts or the Bachelor of Music degree are equally prepared to teach and are successful in the public schools. The music education faculty feels strongly that offering both degrees allows for students to choose the path that is the best personal fit.
This major prepares students to be recommended by the Concordia College department of education for Minnesota licensure to teach music in grades K-12. To be eligible to complete this major, the student must be admitted to the teacher education program.
