Bachelor of Science [B.S] [Criminal Justice] From Fisher College

During the program at Fisher College students are exposed to the interdisciplinary nature of the field through courses such as Forensic Psychology and Psychology of the Fisher students attending the Criminal Justice Career FairCriminal Mind, which illustrate the role of psychology in the criminal justice system; and courses such as Social Justice, Race, and Gender that illustrate the role of sociology in the criminal justice system. 

Program Mission

The Criminal Justice major prepares students for careers as well as advanced studies through a combination of courses in criminal justice, psychology, and sociology, providing an interdisciplinary understanding of the nature of crime as well as the processes that prevent and respond to crime. Additionally, the program considers justice principles and methods of social control and their applications to various areas within the criminal justice system.

Program Learning Outcomes

This program will provide students with the opportunity to develop the following competencies:

• Discuss the development and philosophies of the disciplines of the criminal justice system as they relate to both adults and juveniles

• Describe and analyze the present day role, responsibilities, authority, and practices of the disciplines of the criminal justice system

• Demonstrate competency in understanding the nature of the relationship between and among the disciplines of the criminal justice system

• Explain the social and political forces that impact the criminal justice system, its practitioners, and its clients
