Aberystwyth University fees for Indian students start at £19,190 (₹20.73 Lakhs) per year for international undergraduate degrees and £20,805 (₹22.47 Lakhs) for taught postgraduate courses like MSc International Politics, MSc Business and Management, and MBA, based on the university’s published 2026/27 tuition rates.

Your realistic entry point right now is the January 2027 postgraduate intake, which closes for applications on 31 October 2026, or the September 2027 intake that follows. The September 2026 intake is effectively closed for new Indian applicants because the UK Student Visa takes 3 to 8 weeks to process and the university’s deposit deadline for that cohort is 17 August 2026.

  • Undergraduate tuition (Arts and Social Sciences): £19,190 (₹20.73 Lakhs) per year
  • Postgraduate tuition (MSc International Politics, MSc Business and Management, MBA band): £20,805 (₹22.47 Lakhs) per year
  • Postgraduate tuition (MSc Computer Science, science band): £22,410 (₹24.20 Lakhs) per year
  • Aberystwyth International Undergraduate Scholarship: up to £8,000 (₹8.64 Lakhs) plus free on-campus housing for one year
  • Vice-Chancellor’s Regional Postgraduate Scholarship: up to £3,000 (₹3.24 Lakhs) plus free housing

External Indian scholarships that fund UK master’s degrees (Inlaks, JN Tata Endowment, KC Mahindra, Narotam Sekhsaria, Aga Khan Foundation) are closed for the current cycle. Their next application windows open between November 2026 and February 2027, matching the September 2027 intake timeline.

Aberystwyth requires a non-refundable deposit specified in your offer letter, typically £1,000 to £2,000 (₹1.08 to ₹2.16 Lakhs), which counts toward your tuition balance. The remaining tuition is paid in two or three instalments: roughly 50% at registration, 25% at the start of Semester 2, and 25% by end of Semester 2. Paying the full year in one lump sum at registration attracts no published discount at Aberystwyth, but locks your INR outflow against currency swings.

An Indian student targeting the September 2027 MSc International Politics intake should budget a total year-one cost of around ₹37.44 Lakhs, and a three-year BSc programme around ₹1 Crore, before scholarships. A ₹40 Lakhs education loan at 10.5% over 10 years is approximately ₹54,000 per month in EMI.

Exchange rate used throughout this article: 1 GBP = ₹108, as quoted on xe.com on 23 July 2026 IST.

January 2027 and September 2027 Intakes: Planning Window Open

Intake: January 2027 is open for a limited set of postgraduate courses including MBA and select MSc programmes, application deadline 31 October 2026. September 2027 is the main intake for all UG and PG degrees and opens for applications in October 2026. The September 2026 intake is not workable for new Indian applicants because Student Visa (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies-based) processing takes 3 to 8 weeks and the university deposit deadline is 17 August 2026.

Fee update: Both January 2027 and September 2027 intakes are billed at the 2026/27 rate for their academic year of entry. UG Band 1 sits at £19,190 (₹20.73 Lakhs), PG Band 1 at £20,805 (₹22.47 Lakhs), PG Sciences at £22,410 (₹24.20 Lakhs). Aberystwyth freezes tuition at your entry-year rate for the full duration of your course.

When to pay: A non-refundable deposit of £1,000 to £2,000 (₹1.08 to ₹2.16 Lakhs) is due within the deadline stated on your offer letter, usually 4 to 6 weeks after acceptance. Full tuition then splits across two or three instalments through the academic year. Wire transfer from India takes 3 to 5 working days, so build a buffer before every instalment date.

Scholarships: The Aberystwyth International Scholarship and Vice-Chancellor’s Regional Scholarship are auto-assessed with your offer, no separate form. External Indian awards (Inlaks, JN Tata, KC Mahindra, Narotam Sekhsaria, Aga Khan) are closed for this cycle. Their next windows open November 2026 through February 2027 for the September 2027 intake, so calendar those application months now.

Aberystwyth University Tuition Fees by Programme

Aberystwyth splits international fees into two bands: Arts and Social Sciences at the lower rate, and Sciences and Computing at the higher rate. Every course in the same band, at the same level, is priced identically, which makes fee planning simple across the 200-plus programmes offered.

Aberystwyth University Undergraduate Fees: September 2027 Intake

Undergraduate international tuition begins at £19,190 (₹20.73 Lakhs) per year for BA and BSc degrees in the Arts and Social Sciences band. Once you enrol, the fee is frozen at your entry-year rate for all three years.

There is no application fee for direct international undergraduate applications; UCAS (the United Kingdom’s centralised undergraduate application system) charges its own fee of £28.50 (₹3,078) if you route your application through it.

Aberystwyth University Postgraduate Fees: January 2027 and September 2027 Intakes

Postgraduate taught fees begin at £20,805 (₹22.47 Lakhs) per year for the MSc International Politics, MSc Business and Management, and MSc International Business Management, and rise to £22,410 (₹24.20 Lakhs) for science-band MSc degrees including Computer Science.

Note: The fees shown are the total course price for a one-year MSc, not a first-instalment figure. Aberystwyth’s MSc International Politics, a flagship course from the world’s first Department of International Politics (founded 1919), carries the standard Band 1 fee of £20,805 (₹22.47 Lakhs), not a premium. Confirm your specific programme’s band on the course page before you commit, because a single band difference is worth £1,605 (₹1.73 Lakhs) per year.

Aberystwyth University Fee Trend by Year

International tuition at Aberystwyth has risen roughly 5% year on year for the last four cycles, with a sharper 7.2% jump into the 2026/27 rate. That means every year you defer entry, you pay approximately ₹1 Lakh to ₹1.75 Lakhs more in tuition alone for the same degree.

Source: Aberystwyth University archived tuition fee schedules, 2022/23 through 2026/27. Postgraduate fees have moved in line with the same annual band, adjusted upward by ₹1.5 to ₹2 Lakhs each cycle.

Key Insight: Your January 2027 intake is billed at the 2026/27 rate of £20,805 (₹22.47 Lakhs) for a Band 1 MSc, because both January 2027 and the preceding September 2026 fall within the same academic year. If you defer to the September 2027 intake, expect the 2027/28 rate to be roughly £21,850 to £22,300 (₹23.60 to ₹24.09 Lakhs), an added ₹1.13 to ₹1.62 Lakhs for the same degree. Lock the January 2027 offer if the deposit deadline on your letter is workable.

Cost of Living at Aberystwyth University for Indian Students

Living costs in Aberystwyth average £1,050 (₹1.13 Lakhs) per month for a postgraduate student including accommodation, comfortably below the UK Visas and Immigration benchmark of £1,023 per month required for the visa maintenance evidence. Aberystwyth is a small coastal Welsh town, so rent, transport, and daily spend are 30 to 40% cheaper than London or Manchester.

Note: Undergraduates should budget the same monthly cost but for only 10 months (~£10,500, ₹11.34 Lakhs annually), because most UG students head home during the summer vacation. Postgraduate MSc students in Aberystwyth stay through the summer to finish their dissertation, so plan for a full 12 months of expenses.

Aberystwyth’s location on the west coast of Wales means you save real money on nightlife, taxis, and daily transport compared to a city campus. The trade-off is fewer part-time work options; jobs on-campus (library, student union, catering) at up to 20 hours per week during term are the reliable path, and they typically pay £11.44 to £12.21 per hour (₹1,235 to ₹1,319) at UK National Living Wage rates.

Currency Tip: No fee is due until you accept your offer for the January 2027 or September 2027 intake. Once you accept, the deposit falls due within 4 to 6 weeks, so open a Niyo, BookMyForex, or Federal Bank forex card now and lock a GBP rate before the deposit window. A forex card saves you 2 to 3% versus a bank wire transfer, worth roughly ₹40,000 to ₹65,000 across the full one-year tuition outflow.

Total Cost of Studying at Aberystwyth University

The total year-one cost for an Indian student, tuition plus living plus mandatory UK visa and health fees, ranges from ₹33.43 Lakhs for a Band 1 undergraduate to ₹39.18 Lakhs for a science-band MSc, before any scholarship. A three-year BSc rounds to approximately ₹1 Crore, a one-year MBA to ₹38.66 Lakhs.

MBA (12-month)£21,930 (₹23.68 L)£12,600 (₹13.61 L)£1,266 (₹1.37 L)₹38.66 Lakhs

Mandatory Fees for Year 1 = UK Student Visa £490 (₹52,920) plus IHS (Immigration Health Surcharge, paid upfront with the Student Visa application) £776 (₹83,808) for one year. For a 3-year BSc, IHS is paid fully upfront at visa stage for the full course length, so add approximately £2,328 (₹2.51 Lakhs) to Year 1 cash outflow rather than the £776 shown.

Full-programme totals: a one-year MSc International Politics comes to approximately ₹37.45 Lakhs, a one-year MBA to ₹38.66 Lakhs, and a three-year BSc Band 1 UG to approximately ₹99.29 Lakhs (₹0.99 Crore). A ₹40 Lakhs education loan at 10.5% over 10 years works out to roughly ₹54,000 per month EMI; a ₹1 Crore loan is approximately ₹1.35 Lakhs per month EMI.

Key Insight: For a January 2027 or September 2027 MSc International Politics start, the auto-assessed Vice-Chancellor’s Regional Scholarship of up to £3,000 (₹3.24 Lakhs) plus the International Accommodation Award can cut your year-one out-of-pocket by close to ₹10 Lakhs if you qualify for both. Confirm eligibility with the international office by email before your deposit deadline, because the accommodation award has a limited pool and closes once filled.

Tip for Indian Students: For a September 2027 intake, treat November 2026 through February 2027 as your Indian scholarship application block. Submit to Inlaks, JN Tata, KC Mahindra, and Narotam Sekhsaria in parallel; there is no rule against multiple submissions and each has a distinct decision panel. Prepare three referees, two statements of purpose, and IELTS/TOEFL scorecards ahead of that window, because November through March overlaps with your Aberystwyth application submission and you do not want a document scramble.

Hidden Costs at Aberystwyth University for Indian Students

Budget approximately ₹3 to ₹4 Lakhs for first-year hidden costs on top of tuition and living, most of which fall due before you land in Aberystwyth.

  • UK Student Visa fee (₹52,920 / £490): Paid at Student Visa application, non-refundable. Apply within 6 months of your course start and after receiving your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies, the document needed for the Student Visa).
  • Immigration Health Surcharge (₹83,808 / £776 per year, upfront for full course): A 3-year UG owes £2,328 (₹2.51 Lakhs) at visa stage; a 1-year MSc owes £776. This is the single biggest hidden cost families overlook.
  • Priority visa processing (₹56,700 / £525 optional): Cuts decision time from 3 to 8 weeks down to about 5 working days. Worth the cost if you apply within 6 weeks of your intake start.
  • IELTS / TOEFL exam fee (₹17,000 for one attempt): Budget for a possible retake if your first attempt does not meet the 6.5 IELTS overall required by Aberystwyth.
  • Deposit wire transfer fee (₹1,500 to ₹3,500 per transfer): Bank wires from India to UK cost this per transaction; a forex card avoids the fee.
  • Winter clothing on arrival (₹20,000 to ₹30,000): Coat, thermals, boots. Buy in the UK during autumn sales rather than shipping heavy Indian winter wear.
  • Household setup (₹15,000 to ₹25,000): Bedding, kitchen utensils, spice kit for private housing; halls come furnished.

Note: Indian families most often forget the IHS (Immigration Health Surcharge). For a 3-year BSc it is £2,328 (₹2.51 Lakhs), paid in one lump sum during the Student Visa application, not spread across years. Include this in your loan sanction or forex draft before you sit down to complete the visa form, because the payment page does not let you save and return.

Fee Saving Strategies at Aberystwyth University for Indian Students

The most valuable saving lever for the September 2027 intake is to submit your Aberystwyth application before December 2026. This gets you into the auto-assessed pool for both the International Scholarship and the International Accommodation Award while spaces still exist; awards close as they fill, not on a fixed calendar date.

  • Stay in university halls (International Accommodation Award): If your award covers accommodation, you save the full £6,400 (₹6.91 Lakhs) annual rent for that year, an immediate 18% cut on total cost.
  • Work 20 hours per week during term: The Student Visa permits this. On-campus jobs pay £11.44 per hour (₹1,235), adding roughly £8,000 (₹8.64 Lakhs) in earnings across a 34-week term year. This offsets nearly all your living costs.
  • Claim Section 80E tax deduction on education loan interest: The interest on your Indian education loan is fully deductible from taxable income for the payer (usually a parent) for up to 8 assessment years, no upper cap. On a ₹40 Lakhs loan at 10.5%, this saves approximately ₹1.2 to ₹1.5 Lakhs per year at the 30% slab.
  • Confirm your fee band before you accept: A Band 1 course costs £1,605 (₹1.73 Lakhs) less per year than Band 2. If a joint programme lets you enrol under the Arts and Social Sciences school rather than Sciences, that band choice saves you ₹1.73 Lakhs a year with no change to your degree title.
  • Use the UK Graduate Route Visa post-study: After a completed Masters, the Graduate Route grants 2 years of unrestricted post-study work rights in the UK. Two years of a £30,000 (₹32.4 Lakhs) starting salary is worth ₹64.8 Lakhs, which recovers your total UK spend faster than any tuition discount.

Tip for Indian Students: The single highest-value lever for the January 2027 and September 2027 intakes is stacking the Vice-Chancellor’s Regional Scholarship (₹3.24 Lakhs) with the International Accommodation Award (₹6.91 Lakhs). Both are auto-assessed on your application, both are open to Indian nationals, and together they cut year-one total cost by close to ₹10.15 Lakhs. Apply early and confirm your accommodation award allocation in writing before your deposit deadline.

An Indian student targeting the January 2027 postgraduate intake or the September 2027 main intake at Aberystwyth University should plan a total year-one budget of approximately ₹37.45 Lakhs for a Band 1 MSc and up to ₹39.18 Lakhs for a science-band MSc or MBA, before scholarships. Stacking the auto-assessed Vice-Chancellor’s Regional Scholarship with the International Accommodation Award trims this to closer to ₹28 Lakhs. A ₹40 Lakhs loan at 10.5% over 10 years lands at an EMI of about ₹54,000 per month, and the two-year UK Graduate Route Visa post-Masters gives you a working window to recoup that cost from a UK salary. The one action to take now: submit your Aberystwyth application before the November-December 2026 pool fills, so you are inside the auto-assessed scholarship queue.

Undergraduates from India can receive the Aberystwyth International Scholarship of up to £8,000 (₹8.64 Lakhs).

Ques. What is the deposit amount for Aberystwyth University international students?

Ans. The deposit amount is specified in your individual offer letter and is typically £1,000 to £2,000 (₹1.08 to ₹2.16 Lakhs). The deposit is non-refundable except in exceptional circumstances and counts toward your total tuition balance, not on top of it. It is paid through the university’s International Deposit Payments portal.

Ques. How much money should I show for the UK Student Visa when applying to Aberystwyth?

Ans. UK Visas and Immigration requires you to show £1,023 per month (₹1.10 Lakhs) for up to 9 months, which is £9,207 (₹9.94 Lakhs), plus the balance of your first-year tuition after any deposit paid. For a typical MSc International Politics at Aberystwyth, that is roughly ₹31 Lakhs of maintenance evidence held in a 28-day-old account.

Ques. Can I pay Aberystwyth University fees in instalments?

Ans. Yes. After the initial deposit, remaining tuition is paid across two or three instalments through the academic year: typically 50% at registration, followed by 25% at the start of Semester 2 and 25% by end of Semester 2. Aberystwyth does not currently publish a full-payment discount, but paying upfront locks your INR outflow against currency movement.

Ques. What is the cost of living in Aberystwyth for an Indian student?

Ans. Average living cost is £1,050 per month (₹1.13 Lakhs) including university-hall accommodation, or about £825 per month (₹89,100) in a shared private house with utilities. Annual costs work out to ₹13.61 Lakhs for a 12-month MSc or ₹11.34 Lakhs for a 10-month UG term year.

Ques. Do Aberystwyth University tuition fees increase each year for international students?

Ans. No, undergraduate tuition is frozen at your entry-year rate for the full duration of your degree. A student entering in September 2026 pays £19,190 in each of Years 1, 2 and 3, protecting you from the 5 to 7% annual rise seen for new-entry cohorts. Postgraduate research (PhD) fees are the exception and increase each year in line with UK Research Council rates.

Ques. Which is cheaper: MSc Arts and Social Sciences or MSc Sciences at Aberystwyth?

Ans. Arts and Social Sciences (Band 1) MSc courses cost £20,805 (₹22.47 Lakhs) per year, roughly £1,605 (₹1.73 Lakhs) cheaper than the Band 2 Sciences rate of £22,410 (₹24.20 Lakhs). MSc International Politics, MSc Business and Management, and MSc International Business Management all fall in the cheaper Band 1.

Ques. Can I work part-time to cover Aberystwyth University fees as an Indian student?

Ans. Yes, the UK Student Visa allows 20 hours per week during term time and full-time in vacation. On-campus jobs pay £11.44 to £12.21 per hour (₹1,235 to ₹1,319), adding roughly £8,000 (₹8.64 Lakhs) across a term year. Realistically, this covers living costs, not tuition, so plan tuition through savings, an education loan, or scholarships.

Ques. What is the Aberystwyth International Scholarship and who qualifies for it?

Ans. The Aberystwyth International Scholarship is an auto-assessed award of up to £8,000 (₹8.64 Lakhs) plus one year of free on-campus housing for international undergraduate applicants, Indians included. There is no separate application form; the university reviews academic merit on your admission application and confirms the award with your offer letter.

Ques. When should I pay my Aberystwyth University tuition fee for the January 2027 intake?

Ans. Your non-refundable deposit is due within the deadline stated on your offer letter, usually 4 to 6 weeks after acceptance, and applications for January 2027 close on 31 October 2026. First tuition instalment is paid at registration in January 2027, second in March 2027, and third by end of Semester 2 in May 2027. Send bank wires 3 to 5 working days before each deadline.
