What Students Say?
Likes
- I chose this university as it comes in Top 100 universities in the world. Also the course modules were inline with my expectations and what I wanted to learn.
- The study pattern, campus, and the influence of the university everywhere is very good. A Masters degree from my uni is considered very reputable( specific to my course). Better weather than other areas. Good transport links.
Dislikes
- Lack of cultural diversity. Not much to explore in the city. No direct job placements but it’s the same with other universities as well. Lack of modern architecture
The overall experience was good at my university. It fulfilled my expectations in most aspects. One downside is you don’t get a culturally diverse set of students. But it is specific to my course.
Course Curriculum
My course had a very updated syllabus with the latest tools and technologies taught, which are required by the companies. Also, it was very flexible, as we could choose the modules we wanted to study based on our interests and goals. The modules also contain some industrial and research experience, which you get in some modules and also in your dissertation.
Exams
-My IELTS score - 8 -Admission requirement - IELTS 7 -Bachelor's degree from a good college/university -And a good overall profile. I submitted a SoP, 2 LoRs and my CV. -SoP should consist of your purpose of pursuing your selected course, how it helps your career and your future aspirations. Include your achievements till date as well. -LoRs from 2 professors, which consist of your professors giving a good recommendation for you and what you did in your bachelor's. -CV should be up to date in UK format. -Interview round: I didn’t have any interview. My application was selected based on my previous experience and academic profile.
Placement
There are career fairs which take place in the university a few times over the year. And many big companies visit to advertise their job roles available. There are no placement drives as such like in Indian universities. Currently, the job market is not very good, which is not specific to the UK. Other than that opportunities are ample.
Internship
I did an internal project with the university.
Fees
My tuition fee was 25000 pounds before the scholarship.
Scholarship
I received a Academic Excellence scholarship of 3000 pounds.
Faculty
My class had an average of 100 students at a time. The faculty is very approachable. They have a specific time slot every week when can contact them or meet them in person if we have any doubts.
Campus Life
There are clubs for almost everything. You can join any number of clubs according to your interest. Some of them have a joining fee while most of them are free. The research facilities, library and sports in the university are top notch. You can get wifi on whole campus anywhere you go.
Hostel
I opted for a private student accommodation rather than the university accommodation. I was living in Orion point and trust me it is the best location for a student going to university. It is in the centre and all the things are equidistant. If someone is willing to opt for university accommodation, they can choose mayflower as it in the city centre and not very far from uni as well.
