Master of Arts [M.A] [Humanities - Archaeology] From Uppsala University

The Master Programme in the taught at is one of the international Master?s programmes offered by the Faculty of Arts. The full programme runs over two years and is worth 120 credits, but students can also choose to complete the programme in one academic year, leading to a Master of Arts (60 credits) with Archaeology as the main field of study.

The programme contains both obligatory and elective courses. The Department of Archaeology and Ancient History normally offers four or five courses in Archaeology, Classical Archaeology and Egyptology every term. You can also choose courses from other subjects, if you want to broaden your education further.

If you follow the two-year programme, you will take courses equivalent to 75 credits and write a thesis worth 45 credits paper. If you follow the one-year programme, the course work will amount to 30 credits and the thesis 30 credits.

Career

A Master of Arts degree, specialising in Archaeology, makes you eligible for further PhD study in this field. Previous students have found work as archaeologists, museum curators and educators, investigators for the public sector, aid workers, tour leaders and guides, cultural writers, and researchers and lecturers at universities.
