How do we find solutions to the world?s growing environmental problems? Would you like a career dealing with environmental issues in national or international businesses?
Knowledge and understanding of our biological natural resources and their sustainable use is urgently needed. In this programme, you will heighten your knowledge of economics or business administration, and learn how that knowledge can be applied to environmental issues. Environmental issues are brought to the classroom via SLU?s extensive links with natural resource-based industries.
These meetings aid understanding and application of skills in economics and business administration as a tool for addressing current problems.
UN's sustainable development goals in the education
SLU's educations creates knowledge which contributes to the goals for sustainable development, both in Sweden and internationally.
Depending on your major (either business administration or economics), you will develop understanding and insight into local and global use and management of natural resources. You will learn to address complex problems from both an industrial and societal perspective, with an interest in understanding and promoting sustainable development.
With business administration as a major, you will study environmental management, production economics, quantitative finance, strategic management, environmental risk management and accounting as well as ethics. As an economics major, you will develop your understanding of micro economic theory, environmental policy, econometrics, policy evaluation and sustainable development. Part of the programme is arranged jointly with Uppsala University.
Future
This programme at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences is in English. It is intended for students with a Bachelor?s degree in business administration or economics who wish to extend their understanding of environmental resource issues.
After completing the programme, you will possess the skills to deal with environmental issues in national and international businesses and organisations, government agencies and other public sector organisations.
As an economist with a profile in environmental and natural resources you will have ample employment opportunities in industry, the media, consultancy firms, authorities, international organisations and policy agencies. You will also be well equipped to apply to a Ph D programme.
