Likes
- Curriculum for my course was extensive and managed well by our faculty.
- A lot of technical resources were provided for our use in projects as well as personal exploration.
- Extracurricular activities and life is also plentiful, internship experiences obtained thanks to the course also helped me greatly.
Course Curriculum
8
- Course content is always updated to match the current state of the industry. Faculty always provides up-to-date guidance. Class timings vary, but mostly have 2-3 sessions any time between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, but never a full day. Our class had 18-20 students, but this will be much higher for more common courses like Cybersecurity or core Computer Science.
Admission Experience
- I wanted to pursue a course to learn about Design and Development for XR applications, and this University had a good established base alongside KTH Institute of Technology. Ultimately, I selected SU due to getting a better offer.
- GRE not required, My TOEFL score was 107/120 (IELTS band 8 equivalent), admission depends mostly on motivation letter and Bachelor's curriculum matching course requirements
Faculty
10
- Not sure about the exact ratio currently. Faculty and staff are very friendly and approachable regarding all matters. Our course coordinator, Jordi Solsona, has helped us tremendously during our time at SU, from arranging the classes and facilities to getting us internship opportunities. We were very lucky to have him as our teacher and friend.
Campus Life
6
- There are two campuses; the main one holds classes for non-technical courses and is significantly bigger than our tech campus. Travel time between Metro (20-30 mins). Clubs exist for technical as well as social activities.
Part Time Jobs
- Not knowledgeable about part-time job salaries, but many opportunities off campus exist for the same. On campus, you can apply as a research or teaching assistant, but these jobs will not provide a suitable work permit to be made permanent for non-EU students.
Placement
4
- Full-time opportunities have significantly reduced and have become less common since my graduation. From our class, about 5 non-EU students secured jobs in Sweden, while a few others had opportunities in their own country in Europe.
- The average salary to be expected as a fresher is around 32K SEK per month (~INR 320,000). Campus job fairs take place once or twice a semester, and you have plenty of internship or apprenticeship opportunities.
Accommodation
Off Campus
6
- I lived in multiple accommodations, both private and public, with varying rents. The most affordable accommodation for students in SSSB, which has campuses all over Stockholm.
- While it's not extremely close to our campus, the commute takes about 15 mins by metro and is convenient. The monthly rent for it was SEK 3333, with facilities like a common kitchen, dining area, sauna, bike lockers, etc.
Exams
- TOEFL/IELTS, Statement of Purpose, Letter of Recommendation, CV, Passport
Fees
- The entire 4-semester tuition fee for our course was SEK 260,000 (~INR 25,73,000)
