Brazil Scholarships

International applicants interested in pursuing undergraduate and graduate courses in Brazil are offered scholarships which are renewed each semester for two to three years till the completion of the full-time course. These scholarships are not restricted to only tuition fees but include flight tickets and stipends for living expenses.

The Programa (PEC-PG), officially created in 1981, offers scholarships to nationals of developing countries with which Brazil has a cultural and/or educational cooperation agreement, for training in graduate programs courses (master's and doctorate) in Higher Education Institutions (HEI).  

The following benefits are offered to the recipients:  

  • Places in Brazilian HEIs recommended by Capes, without registration costs;  
  • Monthly scholarship in the same amount as that offered to Brazilian students: R$1500,00 for a master's degree, with a maximum duration of 24 months, and R$2200,00 for a doctorate, with a maximum duration of 48 months

Eligibility Criteria

Brazil Scholarships: UG Eligibility Criteria

For undergraduate course funding, the applicants can apply for the PEC-G scholarships. Interested applicants must hold citizenship of one of the participating countries, including India. Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the scholarship:

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be 18 Years Old
  • Completed secondary high-school
  • 60% or above in high-school
  • 60% or above in official language
  • IES Portuguese for Foreigner Course | Celpe-Bras
  • Minimum one financial sponsor
  • Student must return back to their country after graduation

Eligibility of the applicants for Master’s and Doctoral programs depends on their citizenship and academic records. These are the minimum entry requirements for the GCUB-Mob scholarship:

  • Enroll in maximum five courses
  • Minimum one financial sponsor

Application Process

Candidates can submit the applications for PEC-G and GCUB-Mob scholarships online. Here are the steps for an effortless application process:

PEC-G Applications:

  1. Fill out the pre-application form.
  2. Visit the Brazil embassy in your country and contact the PEC-G team.
  3. Submit the Terms of Commitment and download the acknowledgment.

GCUB-Mob Applications:

  1. Visit the application portal and enter the details carefully.
  2. Download the necessary documents and course intent.
  3. Select the course according to the eligibility.
  4. Apply.

Selection Process

Along with academic performance, the admission committee reviews additional achievements of the applicants that make them distinct from other candidates applying for the same scholarship. These are the abilities evaluated:

  • Extracurricular activities
  • Language proficiency
  • Community service
  • Essay related to the selection of course

GCUB-Mob offers 1100 scholarships to master’s and Ph.D. students annually for the financial assistance of excellent students. It gives opportunities to international students from nearly 89 countries. The PEC-G allows international students from five continents to excel academically by studying comprehensive courses in Brazil. These scholarships are monitored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with a 54.57% enrollment rate. The quality of higher education in Brazil has improved and is providing free education to international students in selected universities.
