RIPS summer internship is an opportunity for undergraduate students to work on real world industrial research projects. The internship program is either sponsored by the industry or the public firms. Students studying in the fields of computer science or mathematics are eligible for this internship. During the RIPS summer internship, the student will team up with their respective academic advisor and industry mentor. An oral and written research will be conducted at the end of internship. The students will get a chance to present their results based on research they have done. 

Managed by IPAM, the main objective of the internship program is to promote women and minorities seeking careers as scientists or mathematicians. The summer internship program of RIPS will take place between June 23, 2025, to August 22, 2025, at University of California, Los Angeles. All selected students will live on campus at UCLA residence halls during the entire duration. A monthly stipend of 4,000 USD will be awarded to each student. Seniors of graduate school are also eligible to apply.

Eligibility Criteria

Those seeking to pursue RIPS internships must fulfill the following eligibility requirements before submitting their application:

  • Candidates must be 18 years of age or above while applying.
  • Current undergraduate students or recent graduates are eligible.
  • Strong academic background in mathematics and proficiency in computer science is recommended. 
  • Relevant work experience could be a plus.

The application for internships at RIPS 2025 is now closed. Desired candidates shall wait until the application for next year opens. Candidates who fulfil above mentioned requirements may move further by clicking on by following the steps below:

  • Visit the RIPS (Research Industrial Program for Students) program page. 
  • Click the “Apply” Button at the top of the page
  • Read the description and eligibility criteria before applying
  • Create your account 
  • Enter your email and chosen password
  • Select “this is my first login” from the checkbox
  • Upload documents
  • Click on “Submit”, and a new window will open as a RIOS application.
  • Fill out the RIPS internship application to get a USA student visa
  • Complete your application
  • Keep a track of your application by logging into the RIPS internship website.

Selection Process

International students with a strong academic background in mathematics, computer science or related fields will be shortlisted to pursue an internship at RIPS. Only shortlisted applicants will receive a notification regarding further steps.
