The WHO internship program is open for current students and graduates of bachelor's, master's or PhD level programs. Application for internship at WHO can be submitted online via the official website. While working as an intern at WHO, the individual would be able to understand how various technical and administrative programs were carried at WHO. The WHO internship is available in areas like human resources, communication and external relations. Duration of this internship is generally 6 months or 24 weeks.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible internship at WHO, the candidate must abide by the following following eligibility criteria: 

  • Candidates must be 20 years of age while applying for the internship.
  • Pursuing bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree
  • The applicant must have completed his bachelor's degree within the last 6 months while applying.
  • Must be fluent in any of the languages as per the organization's requirementS.
  • Passport holder of WHO state membership.
  • Those who previously worked as an intern at WHO are not eligible for this program. 
  • Fluency in English, French, Spanish, Russian and Chinese.

Application Process

Applicants from all over the world are invited to apply to the WHO Global internship programme. Before applying, the candidates are advised to check available vacancies and thoroughly read the FAQs on the recruitment process page. The application can be submitted online by following the below steps

  • Visit the official website https://www.who.int/.
  • Check the careers page and click on "internship programme".
  • Read the details and click on the "Apply now" button at the bottom.
  • Select the internship you wish pursue 
  • Review the eligibility criteria and application requirements. 
  • Click on the “Apply Online” on the respective internship page.
  • Fill the required details and submit the application.

Selection Process

Candidates will hear back from the hiring managers of WHO after being shortlisted. The response time is usually between 4 to 8 weeks after the application for internship at WHO gets close. WHO's technical unit will invite the shortlisted candidates for an interview which also includes a written assessment. It is advisable to ask as many questions as you can during the interview process. Candidates who don't hear back within the given time frame are encouraged to apply for other internships offered by WHO.
