Sydney Vice-Chancellor International Scholarship
Sydney Vice-Chancellor International Scholarship is designed to reward the meritorious international students. The scholarship scheme is applicable to the full-time coursework programs at the University of Sydney.
- Recipients will be awarded Up to $60,000 scholarship to support high-achieving international students
- Australian citizens/permanent residents are NOT eligible for the Sydney Vice-Chancellor International Scholarship.
- Applicable for all UG and PG programs at the University of Sydney
- The VCIS is a scholarship offered on commencement of a coursework degree (it is only awarded once during first year of commencement and not renewable for following years)
- The university doesn’t ask applicants to complete an additional scholarship application as they will be auto-considered. For the upcoming session semester1 for 2026 intake applications must submit their application by 7th October 2025 for Round 2.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for Sydney Vice-Chancellor's International Scholarship applicants fulfill the eligibility criteria given below:
- International student, present in Australia on a student visa.
- Enrolling for a full-time UG or PG coursework program.
- Submitted proof of English language proficiency
- IELTS: 6.5
- TOEFL-iBT: 96
- TOEFL-PBT: 592
- Confirmation of admission to the chosen program at the University of Sydney.
Application Process
To apply for the Sydney Vice Chancellor's International Scholarship, students just have to complete an application for their chosen Bachelor's or Master's program. No separate application is required.
Apply by 7th October 2025 for Round 2.
Selection Process
The selection committee at the University of Sydney Comprises of nominees of the Executive Director, Admissions Office, and Global Student Recruitment.
Sydney Vice Chancellor's International Scholarship is majorly granted on the basis of the academic merit of an applicant. However, there are other factors that are taken into consideration such as:
- Extra-curricular achievements
- One-page SOP
- Scores of tests attempted to study in Australia
- Work experience (if applicable)
Also, an applicant’s performance in the interview session (conducted for admission purpose) is also curial.

Four Sydney Vice Chancellor's International Scholarship amounts are distributed based on a ranking against the evaluation criteria:
