Domestic and international students pursuing any graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne can avail a Melbourne Research Scholarship. Around 350 new and continuing students are awarded under this scholarship program.

  • Recipients receive a 100% tuition fee waiver and up to 135,000 AUD as a stipend.

The Melbourne Research Scholarship application process varies for new and continuing students.

Application Process for New Students

No separate scholarship application is required for those planning to apply for the degree program in 2026. Applicants who submit their admission application before the deadline are automatically considered for the scholarship.

Within seven days of application submission, an email will be sent to eligible applicants confirming that their applications will be evaluated for the Melbourne Research Scholarship.

Application Process for Continuing Students

An online application is mandatory for those who are already enrolled in a graduate research program.


Selection Process

All applications for the Melbourne Research Scholarship are evaluated on the basis of academic merit.

The board of graduate admissions at the University of Melbourne reviews profiles of all applications and checks their eligibility for the scholarship.
