Great till now.

No doubt IHM Bathinda is one the best college in terms of hotel management and also of the province of Punjab. One should be fortunate enough if he/she gets in here and get the preferred choice, rest all of us are polished by the college itself. Our college management is too strict about following the rules but ultimately it is good for the students. Faculty and environment you are getting in the college are also good for studies creating competitiveness among students.

Well, I wrote JEE of NCHMCT and scored a good rank in it. Bathinda is my Hometown, so opted For IHM Bathinda and it has a good reputation in terms of Hotel Management. The admission process is divided into 3 rounds to choose the desired college. Depending on AIR, I got this college after choosing this as my first preference but got this in my Second counseling round.

The course curriculum is decided by the norms of NCHMCT itself. I chose this as my subject because of the growing demands in this area and requires practical learning. Our college has provided with good hotel atmosphere for better understanding. It's really a great help to us as we get to be trained for this industry from the very beginning.

Internship drive is organized by the college for students helping them in grabbing internships at big firms. I haven’t got the opportunity till now but might get one in the coming semester. Some of the seniors are offered an internship at Hotel The Grandand paid with a stipend of Rs18000/month but with a vast experience in hotel line.

I would give 8 out of 10 to my college in terms of placements. Almost everyone gets placed in Companies, Brand or Chains but the important factor is the pay package. Salaries they pay is quite Low as compared to Workload and increment in the Salary is very slow. Average package varies as per the profile of student’s performance throughout.

Almost all festival is celebrated in the college and hostel premises where all faculty and institute make their contribution with the student and organize at a big platform. A variety of events are organized here in the college every year related to every topic whether it is technology, management or ethnic culture. A farewell party and freshers night is also organized for the students every year.

Fees structure is increased to 48500 per semester and sums out to be around 1 lakh p.a. which includes all the facilities including accommodation. This amount is quite higher than other colleges but affordable.

I don’t know much about loans because I haven’t applied for any of it but I can give information about scholarships because I am getting one. College helps in attaining the scholarship but it is not offered to all the students. They are offered to those whose annual family income is below average. If we score very good marks in the college, we can get a good scholarship by giving an examination.

Students can explore all their talents whether it is dance, music or sports. We have all the facilities available here and are up to the mark. I am into basketball and we have a proper court and equipment for it. Overall, the system is good and well-managed by the authorities.

Rooms available in the hostel is shared among 3 students and it turns out to be messy at times. I was there in the hotel in my 1st year of college but shifted out in a flat in the 2nd year because of the chaos. Apart from the accommodation, food quality is good and acceptable. The fees structure for the hostel is around 21000 p.a.

What I have heard is that the college has online data of alumni and arranges once in a year meeting of all alumni and students of final year. They are the most important part of the college as they are really helpful and you can ask them for any kind of help anytime whether it is academic or job-based.

Exam Schedule and structure is very hectic in this college and there is a series of exams throughout the year. Basically, we have 7 Practical Exams, 5 Necessary and their Total 30% will be added in Final Practical. But theory exams are quite relaxing than practical exams. Overall, it's fruitful and worthy.

The faculty is quite good but Improvement is required when compared to other IHM's across the country. The teachers are highly educated and trained and are the alumni of the same college therefore they know the culture and tradition of the course and college. Teachers here are always up for help.
