Which is better, IET Lucknow or KNIT Sultanpur?

VB
Vandana Batra Posted On : May 4th, 2023
B.Tech. Computer Science & Engineering, Kamla Nehru Institute Of Technology (2016)

When it comes to choosing between KNIT Sultanpur and IET Lucknow, it's important to remember that "better" is subjective and depends on personal preferences. Let's take a closer look at both options:

KNIT Sultanpur:

  • KNIT has both good and bad faculties, so the quality of education may vary.
  • Campus life is bustling with lots of councils and activities, making it easy to stay engaged throughout the year.
  • The campus is decent, with lots of greenery and a peaceful environment for studying.
  • In the first and second year, it's important to attend classes seriously, but in later years, you can manage with less or very less classes depending on your time management skills.
  • For students in CE, EE, and ME, there is no placement scope in KNIT, and they must crack GATE or other competitive exams to secure a job. Fortunately, there is ample time available for GATE preparation in the final year due to fewer classes, and Sultanpur provides a distraction-free environment.
  • CS, IT, and EL students have more placement opportunities, with TCS recruiting over 100 engineers each year and other companies like Qualcomm, Mediatech, Lava, and Snapdeal also participating.

IET Lucknow:

  • Both KNIT and IET have similar faculties.
  • Infrastructure at IET is slightly better than KNIT.
  • Lucknow city provides students with more exposure and networking opportunities.
  • IET is near Made Easy and ACE coaching centers, which can be useful for GATE preparation.
  • Placements are almost the same in both colleges.
  • Hostel life at KNIT is arguably better.
  • Both colleges have councils and forums, but KNIT has more.

In conclusion, both KNIT Sultanpur and IET Lucknow have their advantages and disadvantages, and it's up to you to decide which one suits your preferences better.

Which college should I choose for CSE: BIET Jhansi, KNIT Sultanpur, MMM Gorakhpur or JSS Noida?

PS
Priyadarshini Sen Posted On : February 19th, 2021
B.Tech Electrical Engineering, Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (2022)

Among all the mentioned colleges, MMM Gorakhpur is the best.

JSS Noida is a private college and all the other three colleges are government colleges. So, choosing a private UPTU college over a government college does not make sense.

Now, when you make a comparison between the other three government colleges i.e. BIET Jhansi, KNIT Sultanpur and MMM Gorakhpur, MMM Gorakhpur steals the show.

It is highly recommended because of the following reasons:

  1. Highly experienced faculty members
  2. Good and proper facilities
  3. The beautiful campus which is spread over 360 acres.

Alumni of MMM Gorakhpur are in India as well as in other countries working at prestigious positions. The institution has been given the status of a university from a college and there are proposals for it to be promoted to an NIT or an IIT. It can be said that MMM Gorakhpur has a bright future.

When it comes to campus placement, since JSS Noida is located at a better place than the others, it gets the location advantage and therefore, provides slightly better placement opportunities. But, being a student of MMM Gorakhpur will ensure you good packages in off-campus placements. It is you who will have to make the final decision.

Does BIET Jhansi and KNIT Sultanpur Computer Science better than non-core branches at IET Lucknow?

PK

As you have come up with this doubt, I assume that you have got a good rank in UPSEE. So, congratulations on securing a good rank in UPSEE that gave you the opportunity to choose from such elite institutions.

Unless and until it is an IIT, core branches are always a better choice than non-core branches.

Forget about non-core branches in UP government colleges, there is not much facilities and exposure. So, if you are getting a chance, it is highly recommended to go for CSE in BIET or KNIT because in CSE or IT, you just need a laptop and good internet connectivity and these colleges provide WIFI facility. You will have to indulge yourself in regular practice to bring the best out of yourself, as everything is available on the internet.

CSE would be a better choice if you look forward to getting placed after your graduation. If you want to pursue higher studies then, non-core branches at IET Lucknow will give you a better exposure such as coaching institutes, because of its location.

Which is the best, IET Lucknow, KNIT Sultanpur or MMM Gorakhpur?

PV
Priyanka Verma Posted On : August 7th, 2021
Studied at Presidency University Kolkata (2019)

IET Lucknow, KNIT Sultanpur, and MMM Gorakhpur are the engineering institutes in Uttar Pradesh. The admission of MMM is on MET/ JEE Mains basis, whereas the other two are on the cut-off of UPSEE. According to some of the reviews online, I would suggest you go for IET Lucknow.

  • IET Lucknow is the best choice, followed by MMM Gorakhpur. It provides excellent exposure to the students.
  • There are various activities taking place on campus apart from academics.
  • The institute is the top-ranked college of UPTU.
  • IET and MMM have a long way to go. Therefore, both the institutes do not have an alumni network.
  • The top recruiters of IET Lucknow are TCS, Amazon, Code Nation, HCL, Yamaha, Global Logic, New Gen, and more.
  • It provides basic facilities like Wi-Fi, canteen, hostels, library, laboratories, sports and others. IET is well-equipped.

The fee and placement details are below.

Criteria IET Lucknow MMM Gorakhpur KNIT Sultanpur
Fee INR 3.44 Lakhs INR 3.45 Lakhs INR 2.2 Lakhs
Average Package INR 14 LPA INR 13 LPA INR 6 LPA
Highest Package INR 25 LPA INR 18 LPA INR 12 LPA

Overall, IET and MMM are the best institutes. The choice between the two depends upon your own interest and the return on investment. KNIT Sultanpur is a namesake Government college. It is not good compared to the others.

Can I get IET Lucknow or KNIT Sultanpur in the spot round of counselling in the UPSEE if my general rank is 12000 and an OBC rank of 3000?

AR
Abhijeet Roy Posted On : August 6th, 2021
B.Tech from Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow (2018)

I have friends from both IET Lucknow and KNIT Sultanpur and according to them, you will not get any of IET Lucknow or KNIT Sultanpur with this rank. Your OBC rank will not be of any help as selections in the spot round are done based on the general rank and there is no reservation. Also, at IET/KNIT, seats for core branches like CS/EC/ME, fill up first.

If you are a fresher then I will suggest you take a year drop and appear for various entrance exams next year and, if you are not a fresher then, you can go to other colleges. You will not get the atmosphere like IET Lucknow anywhere else, and hence, taking a year drop will be the best in any case. The environment is very competitive at IET Lucknow. Even KNIT Sultanpur lags in this case. The location of IET Lucknow is perfect for coaching for exams like CAT, GATE, IES, IAS, etc.

Visit the official websites, to get the detailed information regarding the cutoff required at these institutes.

Having friends from IET and studying at BIET, I have enough knowledge about both the institutions. So, my suggestion will be HBTI. It will be a better choice than the others. But before selecting any college you must first learn about each college and its branches.

Firstly while choosing an institution, know where your interest lies and then opt for the desired subject. Secondly, choose the college which gives you more exposure. Make the list of all the pros and cons of the institutions and make a final decision based on it.

  • Research about every stream - Gain information about each stream the college is offering, and choose the one that strikes your interest. Also research about the future prospects of the subject, which will help you make an informed decision.
  • Examine what you require from the college - Every student has a different need from the institution they study in. This could be prospects in higher education, competitive exams like CAT, GATE, UPSC or maybe the college’s industrial, cultural and technical exposure.
  • Pointing out pros and cons of any institution is equally necessary. Talking to ex-students of that institution will provide a clearer picture of the institution. Always before committing over an institution, check your long term goals and how it will strengthen your career.

IT or Chemical Engineering from Harcourt Butler Technical University or HBTI will be a better option than other colleges. HBTI is one of the oldest engineering institutes that offers Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral programs. The placement cell of HBIT is also good. Therefore, you can choose the HBTI for IT or Chemical Engineering. You can choose either branch in the field as per your interest and in the sector, you want to pursue your career.

US
Urmila Sethi Posted On : September 19th, 2023
Lives in Jammu

Undoubtedly NIT Srinagar is much better than KNIT Sultanpur as NIT is a central government-aided university whereas KNIT is under the state government.

In terms of various factors, the differentiation can be drawn between these two, they are as follows:

  • Academic excellence: The NIT, Srinagar is an autonomous institute that has been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).NIT Srinagar ranked 82 among the top engineering colleges of India as per the reports of NIRF 2023. This indicates academic excellence, faculty strength as well and infrastructural abilities.
  • Faculty: NIT professors usually have advanced degrees and years of experience in their fields. The NIT Srinagar faculty is made up of 185 accomplished educators. There are about 2500 pupils enrolled, which contributes to a good student-teacher ratio.
  • Infrastructure & Facilities : NITs frequently have well-stocked research facilities, libraries, and labs.
  • Placement statistics: In 2023, INR 36.5 LPA was the largest package that was provided in placements. The average package was 10.48 LPA or INR.
  • Alumni Network: At NITs, there are frequently active alumni networks that may be tapped for networking, internships, and job placements. Among the notable former members of this organization are Mansoor Ali Khan, a representative in the 13th Lok Sabha, and Subhash Kak, a prominent head of the computer science department at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, and many others.

After careful consideration, it can be concluded that NIT Srinagar is the ideal choice for learning. Its impeccable reputation and distinguished faculty members are highly regarded, and the picturesque campus only adds to its allure. With all of these factors in mind, It is clear that NIT Srinagar will provide the students with the optimal environment for the advancement of education.

How is IET Lucknow, KNIT Sultanpur & BIET Jhansi in terms of placement for MCA students?

VB
Vandana Batra Posted On : April 21st, 2021
B.Tech. Computer Science & Engineering, Kamla Nehru Institute Of Technology (2016)

The placement scenario for MCA is not considered as good as it is for B.Tech students in KNIT Sultanpur. The thing that matters the most is your consistency in working during MCA.

My brother has recently graduated from IET and based on his experience, I can suggest you a few points:

  • In IET Lucknow, MCA student sits with B.Tech students for the placements. It becomes important to see how better you are when compared to the skills of B.Tech students.
  • As compared to the other two, IET Lucknow is the best as it had more exposure because of its city. The city gives you better options for training.
  • It is near AKTU, so if there are any new updates, you get the information early. Of all the colleges affiliated with AKTU, IET is ranked No. 1. It is an autonomous college as well.

It is important to acknowledge that MCA placements are in no comparison with that of B.Tech but still it gives better exposure as compared to any Government College. BIET Jhansi does not offer MCA, so there’s no comparison with it.
