IIM Shillong hopes to draw students from the area and offer them a top-notch education and professional growth by expanding its reach beyond the PGP programme. IIM Shillong Director Professor D P Goyal emphasized the institute's outreach initiatives while acknowledging the North East's enormous responsibility and the dedication of the institute to reaching out to other states in the area.

The specific needs and worries of the neighborhood will be addressed in large part through the Community Immersion Programme (CIP) of IIMS, according to Goyal.
