Micro- and macroeconomics

The program provides a solid foundation in micro- and macroeconomics. In macroeconomics, you will study the relationship between factors such as national income, consumption, unemployment, inflation, interest rates, investment, international trade, and international finance.?

In microeconomics, the focus is on the actions of individual agents, such as firms and consumers, and how their behavior determines prices and quantities in specific markets. Other subjects covered in the program are international trade, public finance, and development economics.

Specialized focus on economics

The Economics program at takes a unique approach: whereas other universities in the Netherlands combine business and economics, Tilburg University offers a specialized program with a strong focus on economics in all its forms. Another important aspect are the two philosophy courses in the program, which are a hallmark of your education at Tilburg University. In the third year, you can choose from a wide variety of electives, such as environmental economics, health economics, and behavioral economics.
