If you are interested in analyzing social media protest as a form of political participation, online fan fiction as a form of literature, and memes as a form of communication, the? program at ?is the right program for you.

Program outline

In the first semester, you will follow introductory courses to learn about the different ways in which digitalization and globalization influence art, media and society. In the second semester of the first year you will choose one of the following majors: Digital Media, Art in the Public Sphere, or Global Communication.

  • In the major Digital Media, you will study what digital media are all about and how they work, and you will discover how digitalization has created new cultural products, new forms of communication, and new ways to experience the world.
  • In the major Global Communication, you will study the consequences of digitalization and globalization which are influenced by technological, economic, political and cultural developments.
  • In the major Art in the Public Sphere, you will study cultural and artistic expressions in the international and societal contexts in which they emerge, and the effect of these expressions on the public sphere. This major is offered partly in Dutch. International students can choose courses from this major as part of their minor.

When you have obtained your Bachelor's degree, you can enter the job market straight away. However, your chances in the job market will increase considerably if you also obtain a Master's degree. At Tilburg University we offer a number of unique Master?s programs in the field of Culture Studies.
